Is FW the only camp site connected with WDW? Trying to talk DH into going down for a few days and camping will cut down on costs. Rather we'll tent camp or borrow my folks pull behind is yet to be determined.

What are some other camp sites close by that are worth going to?

I'll be searching the site for other answers to questions, but I'd like to know this one soon.

Thanks!

Yes FW is the only campsite for WDW---I don't know about any others close by I'm afraid.

Maybe if you check the koa website they will have some info!

OK, I admit it I am hooked on Fort Wilderness. But, I know there are times when Fort Wilderness is not an option, so the link below will get you to my page where I have a list of the campgrounds within a reasonable distance to the Disney complex.

The descriptions and maps I list on the page are from the websites of the campgrounds. I have not stayed at any of them so I can't hazard an opinion. Additionally they are listed in alphabetical order, rather than the order of any preference.

Total Heresy, or Other Campgrounds in the Area

I was looking over at FW and I can't find what i'm looking for. Maybe I just can't get it to load, but is there a map of the camping area?

Remember that is you stay at FW you still get all the WDW benefits like transportation, extended hours in the parks, ect. If you stay offsite you will not get that stuff and will have to travel back and forth to WDW, which is just more of a hassle.

Staying at Ft. Wilderness does not cost much more than a regular campgound and the perks are well worth the difference...we are going in Sept. and I booked for 6 nights and 7 days with park hopper magic your way tickets, water parks and more extra and dining package and it was only a little over $1300 for my hubby and myself..no kids..but all you would have extra is their tickets and the dining if you go that way...I decided I did not want to spend my time cooking ..and the last time we went there are so many really neat places to eat that we would not spend the extra money for and the dining plan lets you eat at those places without the extreme cost it would have been...from what I am reading the dining plan is really the way to go..overload of food...we will have to return to the camp..as we have two pups to look after..so will have to walk and spend time with them..yes they are very spoiled..tee hee..
Have fun and look into a Disney package that lets you have everything ready when you get there...and like me paid for ..so I dont' have to worry about the money when we get there :cool1:

Tropical Palms in Kissimmee is a nice campground but if you've been to FW, it doesn't compare...at all. It is clean and they have a very nice pool (much nicer than FW) and they are very close by to everything in the WDW area. Make a right at the Publix and a left at the Gaylord Palms and you're just a tad outside WDW property.

During FW's value season, their prices are close but throughout the remainder of the year Tropical Palms is much, much lower in price. We go there on occasion when FW is booked or we just want a quick trip closer to home.

But just remember, it does not come close to comparing to the experience you'll get at FW. I prefer FW over any place we've camped as of yet!
