Has anyone used the GSI Camping Kitchen? I'm looking for advise on this. I see that some people have the Lewis & Clark one, but I also found the GSI Camp Gourment Kitchen on line. It looks some what comparable, but has a section that can be positioned 6 ways and hooks up to 5 gallon jugs w/ a manual air pump for water pressure.

Any thought??:confused3

Thanks!!

I got this a few years ago thinking it would be great. It was not. The sink stoppers would not stay in, the sinks are very shallow only about 3 inches, the adjustable rack did not fit our coleman stove and did not work well in many of the positions and the shelf did not hold any weight. Two trips and it ended up in the recycle bins. Dont Do It!!!

Edit: The pump was not included, water would not stay in sink well and faucet did not stay in place either

Thanks so much for that advise:) . I think I'll go with the Lewis & Clark one then. Others who have it seem to like it a lot.

For those of you who do have the L&C Kitchen, have you used it where there is no water hook-up at your site?? What have you done then for getting water into the sink?:confused3

Unless you're using the group site, all the sites at FW have water hook-ups. When we do primitive camping, we don't take our kitchen with us.

I really like the L&C Kitchen. The sink is not very deep and really takes some maneuvering to rinse out the refillable mugs but it's fine for quick washing and rinsing.

Another tip, if you are planning on using it a lot, I would invest in the gray water container that has wheels. They cost a bit more than the collapsible containers but makes hauling the gray water a lot easier. But for just occasional use, the collapsible will suffice.

Thanks, We'll keep this in mind when we go to get one. Right now we just take everything home to wash since it's always been just short trips and fairly close to home. When I was younger and we tent camped, it was taking the larger dish buckets with us and using those to wash & rinse the dishes. I think the camping kitchen will serve us better this summer though, especially w/ 4 kids in tow....:thumbsup2

Oh, will you be at the Ft. between now & mid-June?? If so, will you have the kitchen w/ you? Would you mind if we stopped by to see it (or at least me)? We'll be at the Ft. May 9-11, but we live really close, so could stop by on a w/e when you're here.

Unfortunately, we're not due at the Fort until October. I haven't even made ressies yet because I don't know when DS's fall break will be. It's usually the beginning of October maybe the first full week. But if you're in the area when we get there, you're more than welcome to stop by. :thumbsup2

We live 45 minutes north of Disney in Sanford. If you're going down I4, then you'll pass right by my work. I'm in the Mitsbushi building on the right between the 46 & 46A exits. Let me know when you'll be down and we can try to hook up. I think my older DS will be playing soccer about then too. I'm trying to talk DH into going camping for Oct 31 to Nov 2, since we'll be going to the MNSSHP on Oct 31. Older DS will be in Kindergarten next school year, so we have to start planning around that too. Yeahhhhhhh:rolleyes:

We always plan around school. We make our plans then tell the school when and for how long the kids will be out for our Disney trips and hockey tournaments etc.

Is that anywhere near Fruitland Park? We have some undeveloped land there which we will be building on in about 5-8 yrs. (retirement within 8 yrs. :woohoo: ). The last we clocked it was exactly 45 minutes from WDW (another :woohoo: )

I WISH we were 8 years from retiring.....:lmao::rolleyes: Fruitland Park is in Lake County closer to the Villages. Sanford is right off of I-4 before you get to Lake Monroe & Volusia County. We're North East of Orlando on the way to Daytona Beach.

Yeah, that's probably what we're going to do next year. If they step-kids really like camping, then we'll bring them down for their mid-winter break this time next year, and just take DS 4, out of school for the 4 days that he would be going.
