Has anyone ever camped anywhere off site in Orlando? Not on Disney property? any recommendations? :)

We stayed at Thousand Trails in Clermont. The front part is barren and open. The back by the lake is reminiscent of the Fort back when it was overgrown and private. I would stay there again.

I have also heard good things about Turkey Lake. It is a city of Orlando campground.

Stayed at Lake Louisa state park in Clermont very clean and quiet. Not much to do there. Also stayed at Turkey Creek it is an older park, but has lots to do.

The FORT is the best, but if you go offsite, I am throwing out (for review) a consideration of Florida RV State Parks (springs) as an option. I am posting pics of Manatee State Park, a little too far from the Fort, but there have to be springs closer. We LUV the springs and at $20 / day-water, elec & dump station---it's a winner. You just have to do a bit of on-line homework to get it right for location and what that spring offers.
Our camp site. A short walk to the spring.

Suited up in our wetsuits--The water is about 72 degrees all year---You really don't need them during the summer

My DW Shirley heading for the 70ft deep spring entrance. Is that water just beautiful and clear
