Looking at camping at FW April 22nd for 6 nights. This will be our first pop-up camping experience since we bought our pop up. What advise can I get from all of you experienced FW campers?

I'm worried about the weather- we don't have air conditioning in our camper. Will this be an issue? I don't suspect we'll hang out much at our camper anyway- mostly down by the pool or in the parks. But, we like to be comfortable sleeping.

Also, what FW activities can you recommend? I have read about the campfire sing-a-long. Anything else?

I'm not sure how much availability is left for this time, but what site would you suggest that I ask for? We would be in a partial hook-up (obviously)... we have a 4 yr. old DS that LOVES the pool. We would prefer to be near a comfort station, and bus stops. (I'm sure everyone else and their brother wants the same thing too!)

Thanks for any suggestions!

We wnrt in may of 96 and stayed in our popup the first 2 nights were bad the rest we were used to it. We stayed in the 1300 loop. We loved it we backed onto the creek and we were less than a 5 min walk to the store, pool and campfire. I would sudjest the Hoop Dee Doo review. It is a excellent show. We didnt use to much of the facility at the fort as we were in the parks most the time. We used there transportation for the magic kingdom and epcot. As we could take the boat then the monorail. The rest of Disney we drove. Much faster. I hear from ppl on here that the 1400 loop is nice too. Hey i'm sure there all nice. If your worried about no a/c you can always purchase a small wondow a/c and remove (by zipper) a small portion of canvas to put the unit in a window and duct tape it. I ahve seen this many times. I havent done it though. Our site was a full hookup site too. We didnt have a need for the sewer but the location was good for us.

April in florida, at Disney is one of the best months for anything out doors. I live 80 miles from Disney and travel to Disney november to may. Call early, they book fast at FW.

I remember taking 4-year olds to FW and WDW. I miss those days! :rotfl2:

I have a pop-up too and we did a week in May last year. April should be nice. Weather Channel says averages for April are hi-83 low-60. Lack of A/C shouldn't be a problem. It won't be rainy season yet and not muggy so it sounds like a prime time to camp. Just unzip your end flaps a little to let a little air circulate through while you sleep.

Just because you have a pop-up doesn't mean you have to stay in a Partial Hook-up site. Last time I put a loop request in with my ressie and got it (Loop 900) which was a full hook-up but we had everything from tents to RVs in the loop. We like the short distance to the Trading Post area. That's where the pool, playground, bike barn, canoes, and campfire is.

As far as other activities your son would probably love a pony ride at the old petting zoo area down by Pioneer Hall. An adult holds the pony and you lead him along with your son on top at a walking pace. Actually the pony knows where he's going and very docile. It costs about $4. There is also a playground down by Pioneer Hall and the beach on the lake if he wants to dig in the sand. Also FW has been offering daytime activities in the early afternoon time led by a Cast Member like they organize a scavenger hunt, play bingo, or something like that. Look for the schedule of activities posted at the comfort station (bath house) in your loop.

There are usually ducks to see (and chase) over by the bike barn/trading post area and we see bunnies frequently in the same area during the day. Our kids love the campfire and sing-along (marshmellows and sticks available for sale at the chuck wagon adjacent at very reasonable prices) but when they were little they always fell asleep watching the movie.

Also, our kids couldn't do the "Commando" approach to the parks (be there all day from opening to closing) so consider going back to the camper for nap during the middle of the day. We took the boat to MK and drove to the rest. There are also two Disney putt-putt courses where we take the kids, one by the entrance to Disney Studios across the street and the other (our favorite) beside Blizzard Beach. He would probably enjoy going over to Downtown Disney and playing in LegoLand or whatever the name of the Lego store is. Also at Downtown Disney on the side walks by Lego are the water jets embedded in the side walk so put his bathing suit on him and let him get wet! :woohoo:

We spend time riding the monorail just to ride it (you can ride up with the driver if you ask politely when getting to the station; it's worked for us during the uncrowded early morning or mid-day times). If you want to do a water park IMO Typhoon Lagoon was better for little kids.

Enjoy your family time. They won't be little forever. :grouphug:

The 900 loop by far is my fave. The 1st time we ever went we got the 800 loop which wasn't bad either. In case you haven't looked at some other posts make sure you do. You're going to want to either rent a golf cart or bring your bikes. There's so much to do. Enjoy your trip.
