If you are not opposed to going across the bay the camp ground at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware is really really nice and it's also relatively inexpensive. Short ferry ride across the bay to Cape May (Cape May/Lewes Ferry- which takes cars and walking passengers) and the beaches are really nice. The state park campground is walking distance to the beach but it is a long walk (about 20 minutes.) They have both tent and RV sites and most have water and electric and paved parking. Just watch out for the sites on the corners. They are bigger but half of them have the parking spots are mostly covered in sand which means they are almost unusable. There are activities in the park including tours of the old WWII bunkers and more.
We have a camping trip scheduled at Holly Shores in September. I have not personally stayed, but the group we are going with have been many times. We rented a cabin and it looks great.

drove by there a couple of weeks ago (didn't go in). A few miles north of Cape May proper but really looked well kept. There are other campgrounds in that same vicinity as well.
We camped several years in a row with friends at Pine Haven.
I don't know if it is still there, but it was nice. Activities for the kiddos, clean bathhouses.
Close to area activities.
What are your choices? i can try and help as I live in the area!
Holly Shores if you are going to Wildwood is apprx a 25- 30 min ride and about the same to Ocean City Just an FYI that is not far from where I work but it's about 20 minutes from Cape May City the beach etc....
