Can DVC points be rented or used for camping at Ft Wilderness? If that is an option, where can the points chart be found?

Yes, you can although by all recounts it can be difficult to reserve. The charts are under the Disney Collection -> Walt Disney Resort Florida on the member website.

Is it correct that you can "make" reservations only during the first 8 months of your use year?

Meaning that if you didn't make the reservation during the first 8 months of your use year --for any time of the year-- that you could not decide to use points if your banking deadline had passed.

For example, if my banking deadline had passed and I decided then to make a reservation I could not...in other words, the reservation would have to be made before the banking deadline--even though the reservation time might actually be the last month of my use year. (unless I were to use borrowed points)

Can someone verify this?

You are able to book at DVC resorts and also at the DL hotels at anytime during your UY. The rule of four does apply to other bookings though which would include the campgrounds and all other WDW resorts. This means that you need to book your trip prior to the 9th month of your UY but the reservatation itself can be for travel during the last 4 months of your UY.

Also, a $95 booking fee applies to reservations outside of the DVC resorts. Again, the DL hotels are an exception to this.

Kathy, thanks for verifying what I thought. I knew as long as I called for the reservation before the "last 4 months" of my use year that the reservation itself could be for any time. And you have reinforced what I thought--that I could not make the call (reserving) after this point has passed.

Do you know if you are able to borrow points when booking at a Disney resort?

The resort being booked doesn't matter when borrowing points.

You're welcome! As erionm said you can borrow to book at the non-DVC resorts. The other thing to remember is that once you book a reservation at a non-DVC resort they become reservation points and can no longer be used at a DVC resort if you have to cancel the reservation. And any changes would incur additional $95 fees.
