How many of you camp in your RV and still buy the dining plan? We normally eat out at least once a day, even when we are camping at WDW. My DH says this isn't normal. :confused3

TIA for your input!

We don't do the DDP when we stay at FW, but that is because we go with my parents and they have an annual pass. I think it's an everyone or nobody with the DDP.

BTW: My camping rule is that we eat out at least once a day! I'm on vacation too. I don't want to be cooking and doing dishes.....

We don't do the DDP either, but we do at the parks at least 1 time per day even though we pack the camper full with food....

We hotel it and still don't use the DDP we get a 1 bdrm DVC unit and eat breakfast in teh room and then make a lunch and pack it in the backpack cooler to eat at the parks and then come back to the room to eat dinner. We eat about 1 meal a week out in a 2 week stay and that is Chef Mickeys and then we go to the Olive Garden

We had the dining plan when we stayed in our pop up. It's really a great deal if you eat out! We figured it into the cost of our trip, after deciding that we really didn't want to cook much.

The best way to figure out if it's worth it is to use the menus on allearsnet or here on the DIS and add up what you'd normally spend eating out at table service and counter service meals. If it adds up to about the same cost as the dining plan, it's worth it, because you also get $3 snack per person each day, as well as extras that most people don't routinely order (dessert/apps).

I'd say that if you eat 1 sit down meal out almost every day, it's a good deal.

There were 3 of us on the plan, me, DH & DS 5. DD 2 wasn't on the plan and shared with us. We usually had breakfast at the campsite, with both DH & I sharing in the cooking/cleaning/getting the kids ready.

We combined it with the AAA discount on the site.

I just tryed to add the DDP onto my reservations and the CM wouldn't let me unless you have some sort of package deal, plus I got a AAA rate and you also have to be paying rack rate to get it. It really put a damper on my plans. I'm paying 88$ for a prefered camp site with AAA, I already had tickets, so now my DH want to stay at tropical palms to save us 600$ since we aren't going to get the dining. I'm sick over the whole thing. :guilty:

You may also want to reconsider with teh recent changes to the dining plan. Now none of the downtown Disney eateries are included any longer and all but Le Cellier are gone from the plan in World Showcase just to mention a few changes to it.

An AAA agent has to book the plan for you to get the discount with the plan, Disney can't do it.

Also, you do have to have a package, BUT you can buy one day tickets for everyone. The dining plan is tied to # of nights, but the tickets can be for as long/short a time as you want. There have been discussions about how to have these one day tickets taken off your room key cards so that you can use them for another trip. Apparently, if they are never used, they don't expire, even if you don't pay for non-expiring tix. Maybe the resorts board or budget board can help with that.

I'm sure it will work out fine!

We are staying in a cabin and we still got the DDP. I plan on cooking a little, but I really was not willing to cook the whole time. Plus knowing my kids they will eat their way through WDW and still eat back at cabin lol. It amazes me how much teenage boys can eat and still stay so slim.

We just can't stand to eat every meal at teh restaurants so we love the cooking choices then we also get to eat what our family likes not just what is served makes a big difference with the kids for us. We don't stop long enough to even use counter service when we are at the parks LOL we eat on the run LOL so the DDP is really not any use to us at all it does work for some people just not us. My sister in law had the DDP for this Dec and after looking over the menue options and costs etc they canceled it as thier kids are very picky and didn't like the places or food selections they had.
