We are doing a camping trip down to Cali this year from Vancouver B.C. and would love to stop in Anaheim for a few days. We are considering the Anaheim Harbor RV park. Thoughts? It claims it is 'walking distance' to the park, but is at actually 'walking distance' with two young kids (6 and 4) or will we want to take the ART?

Years ago we stayed at the Anaheim RV Village and it was fantastic but it has since closed down. Does anyone know how the Anaheim Harbor RV park compares?

Thanks so much!

If it's the one I'm thinkin of,,it's a 'long' walk. Kids being that young might be quite a hike at the end of the day.

Thanks. Good to know.

How about safety? I've read great reviews on Trip Adviser, but there are also some really negative reviews regarding safety. I would hate to have my rig damaged or stuff stolen while we are in the park all day.

This is where we stay on our trips. It is basically a parking lot with hook ups. It has a small but very clean pool. We don't use the bathrooms but hear they are very clean also.
They do have a security guard at night. It is just across the street from where Anaheim Village was. It is a pretty long walk to the parks. The ART stops by Shakeys Pizza just a few yards down the street.
It is the last stop to the parks so when you take the ART back, you have to go the whole route. One negative thing is about 2/3 rds. of it is monthly rentals. They are toward the back so it does get some thru traffic.
We choose AH for the price. As far as safety, I have never seen or heard of an incident while we where there. We go 2 to 3 times a year. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I don't know what type of RV you have but if you can drive back and fourth what looks like a cool place to stay would be Dockweiler RV park.
It's right on the beach by LAX. On a good day it would be close to an hour drive. You are feet from the sand looking right out to the ocean.

Try Anaheim RV Resort. It's not walking distance but the ART stops right onsite. It is more expensive but I thought safer. Decent pool and bathrooms were always cleaned. We stayed in a tent for a week 2 years ago and would stay again in a heartbeat. We also stayed at the one you mentioned a couple of times. It is basically a parking lot. The tent sites weren't separated, just 4 tent on a junk of grass. I didn't like that as it was me and DS. We also tented at the one that closed down. It was my favorite and it was a long walk, doable but long at the end if the day.

I second Anaheim RV Resort. The sites are nicely spaced, it's clean and well landscaped. Very quiet at night. And we felt very safe there. As mentioned ART stops right there and there's a ticket machine to buy your passes. When we stayed in 2015 the ART was 'first on' in the AM (and there were only 2 more pickups) and 'first off' at night so we never felt we were on the shuttle 'forever'. As a plus, you can set your lawn chairs up and watch the fireworks if you have an 'off night' from the parks.

It's definitely not walking distance, though it sort of looks like it from a map. But the freeway cuts off the 'direct route'. IIRC it's about 1.5 miles.
