I'm looking for a campground to stay at on the way to and from WDW. We travel from NW PA. Was looking at some SC state parks but they only take reservations for a 2 night min. Don't know if I'll need one at that time of year (Thanksgiving weekend) but I'd rather have one.
So where do you camp?

We usually stop at Santee State Park . It's about a mile off I-95 so it makes for an easy exit/entrance.

We usually go between Thanksgiving and Christmas and have not had a problem getting a site for the night.

I'd say give the park a call and ask if that is a busy weekend.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear you haven't had a problem getting a site.

Any campgrounds down 77 (we come down 77 to 26 then 95) Santee would be adding a couple extra hours on to the trip for us. I'd prefer something before or around Columbia. That's about how far we usally make it.
I know I'm being picky
Thanks!

Sorry, we always travel I-95 so I don't know anything that way. You can check out the SC parks site and you should be able to find one.

Good luck

There is a KOA in Statesville NC. it's right next to I-77 and Duke-power state park is just south of there. Also there are several rest-stops (4) on I-77 in NC where you could catch a few hours of shut eye.

Just over the SC border off Rt. 77 is the Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA.
Do you have the Woodall's North American Campground Directory ? That's what we use to help us to find campgrounds.
Woodall's web site is: http://www.woodalls.com
The KOA website is: http://www.koakampgrounds.com

For some reason the Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA is listed in the NC section of the KOA site.

Coming from Ohio, we're staying at KOA Point South going down and KOA Statesville coming home. Tried for the KOA closer to NC/SC border, but it's NASCAR in May and they are booked solid. It's a long trip any way we tried to break it up, but this seems to work out.

Dear Dtum,

You'll like to stay at the KOA at Point South. We stay there all the time when we go to Florida. The people that work there are great - very friendly. The best part of the entire campground is the hot tub. It's quite relaxing after a long drive.

Have a good trip
