I'm sorry if this is a repeated question. Our family will be towing a fifth wheel from NEPA to FW in 2 weeks. :goodvibes We will be taking the 81 route, picking up 95 in South Carolina. Can anyone recommend a nice, affordable campground where we can stop for the night in Georgia, preferably not far off 95? My husband would like to only have another 4-5 hours to drive the second day. Thanks for any help!!

There is one at Jekyll Island not too far from the Interstate.

There is a campground right off 95 that is just on the border of FL/SC that we have stayed at on our trips to the Fort from Northern VA. It is called Kingsland/Jacksonville North KOA. It is the last exit in GA (exit 1). It is about 4 hours to WDW from there. They usually have spots available for those that are just looking for a one night stop over.

"on the border of FL/SC "

They meant the border of FL/GA.

Hi,

Try KOA Sanvannah South. My family and I stayed there for an overnight a couple of years ago. Excellent access to the highway. Clean campground. Super friendly. My wife called them when we en route and they would keep the lights on for our arrival. They gave us a pull thru with easy access in and out from the campground. My daughter loved the play ground while my wife and I were packing up. The DGPs were more than happy for a visit to the playground.

This year when we go down, I will probably stay there again if I decide to pull over for the night. Still up in the air to pull straight thru as my dad can now tow. I could take a quick cat nap while he drives the truck for a few hours. After my Myrtle Beach trip last year, the 20 hour drive to WDW looks like cake.

Good luck with your ride. The 81/77/26 to 95 route is really a nice ride. We did this the last time we rolled down to Disney. Since we are going to be leaving for the Disney on the weekend, I will be doing the 95 route this time.

We also like the Jacksonville North KOA at the GA/FL border in Kingsland GA. The pool has been open when we've been there in the late fall and early spring, so DS is always thrilled to get a swim before bed. They also have a small fenced dog run, which is nice.

The exit right before it has a K Mart and a grocery store (Publix I think), so it is a nice area for a final night to pick up last minute stuff you might have forgotten.

Oh, and the KOA serves waffles in the morning, so kind of a fun start to the day!

Thank you all for your suggestions! We are hoping to leave home on Thursday, drive as far as Statesville, then on to Daytona Beach for the weekend, then arrive at FW Sunday morning, but with my husband's work schedule always changing, we wanted to have an alternate plan for making the trip in 2 days. Have a safe and enjoyable rest of the summer.

Recomendations I can make is KOA Savannah South, but if your getting tired before you make it there, at exit 33 in SC is Point South KOA, and at exit 53 is New Green Acres. Coming from N. VA that is usually as far as I can make it on the first days drive.
