Camper decision...need advice!

We're thinking of making the step-up from tent camping and have been looking at various small trailer options: T@B, Teardrops, and Pop-ups. I've just recently come across the A-Frame pop-ups (Aliner & Chalet seem to be the two main brands) and they seem just about perfect for our family. They're hard-sided and pop up in a minute or so, and are pretty darn cute. Not a massive amount of room, but certainly adequate for our tent-camping family of 3 plus a dog. This style might be worth a look for you!

Hey Kristin, I had thought about a liners as well, and you're right, they are attractive campers. The main reason I don't think we'll get one is that they seem to have a dinette area that breaks down into a bed (we'd like separate areas), no shower, and no awning/screen room option. I know, I know, being picky and all, can't help it. Great idea tho!

Hi BarleyJack, Check again...while we're looking at the bare bones Scout model, I think some of the higher up models have "real" beds and shower options. They just updated their web site (www.aliner.com) but I haven't poked around too much yet.

Anyway, cheers and happy shopping and decision-making!

here is my 2 cents. I have a hybrid camper and we love it. You get all the comforts of a hard sided, with less weight and the setup time is minimal. I get our 2 beds out and setup in under 10 minutes. I am towing a small 16' with a 2007 Murano with a 3500 pound tow rating, and we have had no towing issues. But we upgraded to a Durango so when we are ready to upgrade the camper, we have a towing vehicle. We are extremly interested in the Rockwood Roo's many options, great layout, priced a little higher but the quality is great. There is a great message forum for hybrids, do a google search for hybrid explorer and you can get tons of info about them.

Good luck and enjoy,:yay:

The nice thing about a popup vs a hybrid is that the beds are bigger. Because of the way hybrids are designed, the beds can only get so big. They're still queens, but smaller than the beds you can find in a popup. We have a king at home so I've been looking at this.

Outback makes some nice hardsided trailers. I have not checked them for TV location or shower size, but the ones with the slide out beds are practical. They may be out of your price and/or weight range. The 18 rs has a nice counter area where the 21rs has bunks. http://keystone-outback.com/?page=floorplans

Check with ftwildernessguy, he has a hybrid, they seem to pack a lot of room into an easily towable trailer.

We had a KIWI just like Ftwildernessguy and we absolutely loved it. We traded it in on a class A because a once in a lifetime deal fell in our lap, otherwise, we would still have it.

There are some hybrids with King sized beds. I weighed the options as well, and the fist time I parked next to a popup and watched them setup in the rain, my first thought was, thank god I skipped the popup ;) To each their own though, that's why they make so many styles.
