Campaign Posters at the Western Wall.

I agree! I think it's a great gesture to show that we're not just thinking about only ourselves for a change! Judging by the reception, I think the people at the stop agreed. people WANT to like us again, but they need someone to offer them some hope that it's possible.

I am shocked by this statement! Why should a US presidential hopeful campaign abroad. A US president's #1 priority and his #200th priority and everything in between is to the AMERICAN people, not to the Germans, not to the French, not to anyone but the Americans. I am appalled that Obama felt the need to campaign abroad and it scares me to think what he would do if he becomes President. Is he going to Ask Nicolas Sarkozi what to do before he does anything? Is he going to ensure that the German popular agrees with him before he speaks. Its appalling!

Maybe it was the rock bands and not just Obama that was the attraction. I would go see Obama too if Toby Keith was giving a free concert.

sure they only came for the bands...
funny no one left when the music stopped....
I have seen many concerts where folks voted with their feet as soon as what they came to see ended...
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

On the news folks were saying they wished he had spoken longer....but of course they were only there for the music...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Uh no, and the button is in every thread that I post in cause its in my signature. Why would I be German?

There is a Christian Democrat party in Germany. It's usually described as "moderate."

Sorry, thought you were being witty and cracking a joke due to this thread. :)

Soooooo the Americans currently in other countries don't matter? I find THAT appalling.

Why does everyone seem to ignore that fact that Americans live overseas and yes they get to vote. Why should they be excluded from being able to see a presidential candidate speak? I just don't see why this is even an issue. Should they have said only Americans can come? I'm sure that would have went over big and then of course the thread title would have read;

Obama won't let Europeans attend his rally for overseas Americans.

Damned if you do damned if you don't.

Ahhhhhhhhhh cool! Nope. I have just met so many people in my life who feel like the it is impossible to be both a Christian AND a Democrat. It's almost amusing at this point how many people truly think that.

Yes, I do. I was one of them for 4-years. Although I would have loved for Bush to come to Paris in '04 to greet myself and other ex-pats I would also have found it odd that he felt Europe was a campaign destination.

:rotfl:

very true

These absurd Obama threads are right out of the Hannity/Rush line of
nonsense and should come with a DISclaimer: "For Entertainment Purposes
Only"............because the bashing contains no substance.

On the contrary, I know exactly why. He has the most liberal voting record of anyone in the senate. He is even to the left of Bernie Sanders/Vt. if that is possible. He will disarm the United States, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDVDs
He will tax hard working Americans because he believes in redistribution of wealth.
He will raise the taxes on capital gains, not to raise revenue, but to make it "fair".
He is inexperienced. 143 days in the Senate before running for president does not a statesman make. Neither does a highly scripted world tour, complete with a cheerleading press.
He does not support US oil drilling.
He is an elitist with questionable friends and associates. Rezko, Wright, Ayers, Dorne.
He will be the second term of Jimmy Carter. We could barely afford it during the Carter years, we can't afford it now.

Faux News could use you whenever Hannity has to take a vacation or a day off. This is his redundant discourse for the election season.:guilty:

Ah, ok. :flower3:

Yeah, I don't get that "problem," either. Some people just seem to claim moral high ground like they're playing king of the hill, and with about as much justification.

Than he should have gone to a US embassy or a US air base abroad, invited the few thousand Americans and kept the American news out of it.

His whole reason for this trip was to make him look 'presidential'. He is acting as if he IS the president. Meeting with leaders, wheeling and dealing, etc. It is a smart move politically, I just find it appalling.

Let's not anyone be naive now. The American media was there and Obama knew that. If I were running for President, and I had a standing room only audience in country after country to hear me speak, why the heck not exploit it to the hilt? It's funny, but the Republicans like to laugh at Obama supporters for thinking that Obama's more than a calculating politician, but then seem genuinely surprised when he acts like...wait for it...a calculating politician. Oh well, just another day on the DIS, i guess...

But I think the logistics of it prevented from the above places. You just can't have thousands of people come hang out at a US air base. You know, security and all.

Do you find it appalling because you won't vote for this candidate, or because it is inappropriate for a Presidential candidate to appear Presidential?

It is appalling, and its equally appalling that more Americans aren't shocked by it. His grasp of history is equally appalling. From NRO;

"And so Obama came to Berlin to build up his image on national security. If only appearances matter, then he did himself some good. The substance of his remarks was different. He credited the 1948 Berlin Airlift to international cooperation. “It was this spirit that led airlift planes to appear in the sky above our heads,” he said, as if some global vibe called aircraft from the vasty deep. Actually, it was Harry Truman. As Elizabeth Spalding recounts in The First Cold Warrior, “At first, Truman was almost alone in thinking that an airlift would work as an effective response to the Soviets.”

Truman made a tough, risky decision. That’s what presidents do. Obama did not acknowledge this point. He didn’t even mention Truman’s name.

Do you find it appalling because you won't vote for this candidate, or because it is inappropriate for a Presidential candidate to appear Presidential?

"Appearing presidential" should convey to the voters that one is capable of assuming the office of the president once one is elected". Obama has been behaving as if he is president and respresents the foreign policy of this country.

"At a morning background briefing, reporters parried with senior advisers on the characterization of Obama’s speech Thursday in Berlin as a campaign rally. The outdoor speech at the Victory Column could draw thousands of people, similar to the size of Obama events in the United States.

“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.

“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser. "

Would you mind answering the question, versus just trying to squeeze in another unattributed sound bite, please?
