Camp Store- Where to buy Groceries?

How much does the camp store carry in the way of groceries. I know it is not a full grocery store but do they carry milk, bread, etc. Do they carry any meat like hamburger or hot dogs? I really don't want to spend my vacation going to a publix or Wal-Mart. I know it will cost a little more but time is worth the cost in some cases. Who wants to spend time at "Wally World" when they are at Disney World? :rotfl:

We will carry most of our food but have a small refrigirator/freezer. Will need to buy more of the basics while at Disney.

Just wondering what everyone else does.

The Meadows Trading Post does carry some items. They have bread, cheese,
milk, eggs, cereal, instant grits, etc. I did not see any meats other than
packaged lunch meat, but then I wasn't really looking. We did buy a half gallon
of milk for $3. For emergency rations this will work. For more substantial
provisioning I would say Wally World is your best bet.

Meadows Trading Post has items I'd equate to a 7-Eleven, just the basics. Just don't let your eyes pop out at the prices!

I ran out of 1 lb propane bottles tent camping in years past. Went over to Meadows and found an empty spot on the shelf where I thought they should be. The CM looked and said 'oh, I need to get some from the back.' He went and got a case and pulled out the price gun...$6.00 each! I was like 'wow, that must be really good propane.' He didn't bat an eye, 'of course...it's DISNEY propane!':thumbsup2

Grocery stores are not too far offsite if you need something more, if you go to DTD and go all the way up Hotel Blvd, turn right at the main street, a Wynn Dixie is on the right about a mile or so up. You can go straight across into the Crossings, but the store there is almost Disney prices.

Here's a great photo tour of the Meadows from back in February...

I took some pictures of the Meadows Trading Post for those who might not have visited FW yet or just want to know what type of goodies they enjoy.

You can even stop and play a game of checkers

Yes, the prices are higher, some VERY high, but the atmosphere is great. You can grab a hot of coffee, the morning paper and set outside and enjoy the surroundings. :coffee:
Also available is hard liquor, (behind the service counter), candy, cookies, post cards, games, hats, t-shirts and more.
This is the only place within the Fort that you can actually drive a car/truck to, but parking is for only 15 minutes. Special golf cart parking is right near the front door.
Hope you enjoyed the mini tour.

Not much seemed to have changed when we were there in November

Thanks for the help. It sounds like my husband or I one will make a trip to the store while the other one stays at the Fort with the kids swimming. I vote my husband goes to the store and I stay at the Fort. After all I get to go grocery shopping all the time. I think he should have the opportunity to enjoy that little adventure. :lmao:

Absolutely!! Vacations are a time to do things you don't normally do right? Hey, I'll back you up. I mean after all you WILL be babysitting for him while he does. Ooooh, even better. Tell him to bring the kids to "help" him so he can get it done faster. You can soak in the jacuzzi while he is gone.

That figures, in October I took a 30# tank to the Meadows to get filled and it was only $21.00 to fill, thats cheaper than the propane store at home. I'm glad I didn't have to pay the 1lb. price times 30 at the Meadows.

At the intersection of Hotel Plaza BLVD and 535 you go straight across to the crossroads and to get to the Winn Dixie you turn left and then it is on the right off 535. If you turn right onto 535 there is a Super WM about 2 or 3 miles up 535 on the right. For serious groceries we do WM, but for an OOPs we will use Winn Dixie and use it for malt beverage and TV guides since WM doesn't have those or the brands we drink.

I'm not sure, but I think we're going to have Garden Grocer deliver to us in December. Not 100% sure, but I don't think I'm going to want to stop on our way in.
