Yes we are into the Camp Rock theme this year and now DD 11 is telling me that she wants an electric guitar?!?! I don't want to spend alot of money on something like this because I don't want it to be another passing fad and then she doesn't end of using it alot.

I found a pretty good deal on a Camp Rock guitar made by Disney--only problem is I don't know what size we need to get or what quality this one is. It is supposed to be 3/4 size guitar and looks like it just plugs into the wall. Can anyone tell me if this would be too small for her----I know she would love it with the camp rock on it but I think I read somewhere that it listed it as 3/4 size for smaller hands----my DD is 11 but is more the size of a 14-15 yr old. Would this be Ok for her or would she grow out of it too soon???

Thanks for your help and if anyone knows of any other deals on some good electric guitars that won't break the budget I would love to know--Oh and they would also have to be really cool if you know what I mean??;)

Is there anything Jonas Brothers out there she totally adores them and would love a guitar with their logo on it as well?? Thanks:)

anyone??:confused3 Do I really need an amplifier or would this satisfy DD??

Do you really need for it to be Camp Rock? Because, likely it will be a passing fad with your child.

I've seen electric guitar kits (complete with a small amp) on music123.com for around $50 before. They have smaller child sized guitars too, but I'm not sure of the pricing.

Thanks sherry7;)

It doesn't have to be Camp Rock but that is where she got the desire to have one so I figured that she would be surprised with one. I can get one for around $50 that just plugs in ---maybe that's all I really want but I'm wondering if she really needs the amp?? Anything with camp rock or Jonas Bros is a real hit with her and so that's why I'm leaning towards the Camp Rock One ---

Thanks for the website I will check it out but I am mostly concerned with the size of this guitar I guess---I just don't want her to outgrow the size or it to be too small when we get it. If anyone can help with that I would love to know. Thanks so much!!:thumbsup2

I have two (average sized) 11 year olds who play acoustic guitar and they use the 3/4 size (which was recommended at the music store once they tried both full size and 3/4 size out) which is perfect for them. I got them electric guitars for XMas and I think they're full size, but not exactly sure I'm keeping them yet (JCPenney, $89, comes with small amp). I'm looking at a few different options. Their guitar teacher recommends buying at a music store so I have to see what they're offering, they had a good deal on the acoustic guitars last year. If you have a Sam's Club, they're offering a nice electric Fender guitar for $200, but it might be more than your DD needs (and it doesn't come in "girl" colors. ;) ) Mine have been playing for almost a year and I'm still not completely sure they're going to stick with it, so I don't want to break the bank on great guitars just yet. HTH.

PS I don't know what Camp Rock is...

Thanks again all!;)

Pea-n Me-- thanks for your tips--I'm surprised with 2 11yr olds that they haven'nt heard of Camp Rock---it's a Disney movie with Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers in it----my DD is totally hooked on it and they have alot of merchandise out this xmas --you should watch it some time it is a very cute movie and even really kept the interest of both my DH and I too. Anyway that's where my Dd seems to have gotten her desire for an electric guitar so hence I am on a search for the right one for her but don't want to spend alot of money if it's something she thinks she wants to do but decides a few months down the road that she doesn't want to pursue it. If anyone else has any tips I would appreciate them!:)

Some of the Target stores had the Camp Rock guitars on clearance recently. Quite a few of these guitars, acoustic and electric, have been for sale on E-Bay for decent prices. I got my DD the acoustic camp rock quitar on E-Bay for $51 including the shipping charges because I couldn't find one at my local Target.
