Kari: "But if we don't go back eventually, they'll start wondering where we are. I told my parents that I would be here, and that I wouldn't run away from camp." Kari didn't want the couselors to worry about them.

Balthazar: He looked up, watching the sun set before his eyes, feeling as if this could last forever. Balthazar hoped nothing would ruin this precious moment.

Kari: "Have you met Eric?" She gestured to Eric. Kari hoped Missy wouldn't ask about the fish. Missy: "Yeah, we've met." she answered. "So guys, it looks like we're going on a Fourth of July trip." Kari: Kari frowned. "Mhm, I heard. It's funny, but I've never heard of a Fourth of July."

Eric: He looked up at her, then lowered his head. "You're different though. I love you." When he introduced them he took a step behind Kari. "Do we have to go on the trip?"
