My husband will have his digital camera, I will have my bigger SLR camera, plus we're thinking of bringing the video camera. What do you do with all of this stuff when you ride the rides? Don't know if we'll have a backpack, but still, you can't exactly take the backpack on the ride with you.

I don't want to miss out on ANY photo op, so please don't suggest that I simply leave the camera back at the resort. This is a once in a lifetime vacation for us, and I want to capture as much of it on film as I can.

Hi Kim,
I know your exact situation. I have a Nikon SLR, and before last years trip I bought a digital camera, and had the same problem.
What I did was buy 1 nice camera bag that both of them fit in nicely. It was not real big, but it held both my digital and SLR with no problem. It was by Low Pro. I got it at Best Buy. It is well padded. It was small enough to sit under my seat while flying. While on the rides I either put it under my legs or like on Mission Space it would fit in the space provided. On some rides I just held on to it real tight with the shoulder strap on. You could do that and that way you could limit yourself to the camcorder bag and 1 camera bag. You hang on to one and your husband the other. If your on a ride like RNR Coaster I highly recommend you hold on to it extremely tight. I am like you and when I go on vacation, especially to Disney World I don't wanna miss that perfect photo opportunity. I hope this givesyou somesort of ideas.

We are thinking of bringing a regular camera and our video camera. The video camera itself is small, but the bag that it goes in is bulky, so I had bought a new elf camera that can just fit into my purse.
I am worried that the cameras will get wet with the rides and if it rains.
I would suggest in getting bags for them or putting them in a backpack so that you can have your hands free.

mommytotwo we bring ziplock bags to put the camera equipment in to kep it dry .. works really well.

We also carry our cameras with us on all the rides in a backpack. Never had any problem with them.

Since others have pretty much covered the logistics of carrying/protecting the cameras, my only suggestion is that you don't spend your vacation looking through the viewfinder. It's amazing watching people (mostly guys!) wandering through the parks using the lcd of the video camera and really missing the big picture. :)

Oh...for the digicam, bring plenty of card space, don't worry about deleting editing them in the parks, download each night if you can...if not, then edit out the less than ok ones.

Guess i had two ideas today. :)

I have a fanny pack that fit my camera and my husband wore a larger fanny pack that was big enough to hold our video camera.
I think I got my husbands larger fanny pack at a camping supply store. Also..my 2 dds each wore a fanny pack to hold their camera and autograph books.

I made sure I bought an itty bitty digital camera that does video, too. I use to have a bulky one, and I'd put it in my pocket, then it would hurt when I sat down. This Minolta E323 is a lot nicer. :earsboy: :earsboy:

I'm a photographer but did not want to bring my bulke slr's to WDW...I save these for wedding and photo shoots.

What I did was invest in a small pentax with a 38-120 zoom and I get great pics at WDW.

If you can downsize, get a fanny pack camera back and go for it. You can always bring pack with you on any ride. I put my fanny pack strap around my leg and did RockNRoller coaster and everthing was fine....Bring more film than you think you will need. (I took 1245 pics on our first trip and now we take 300 film pics and 1200 digital)

Bring extra digital card and don't worry...You'll have fun.
