Have ressies for DH and myself to parasail at CC. Has anyone ever brought their good camera for pics on the parasailing boat??? We have disposable ones for while we are up but would love to zoom in with a good camera while hubby is in the air. Too much hastle??? Thoughts???

I would say too wet to risk it- if the seas are even a bit choppy, everyone on th boat has the possibility of getting soaked.

I took a water resistant camera up in the air, and used my digital on the boat. Most of the other people brought their cameras. The spray is minimal and only when you are sitting in very front of the boat. Since you will be taking pictures facing the back of the boat, your back will get the spray. This of course will depend on the weather. I would take the camera and use it on the boat, not when you are in the air. And bring a plastic bag to keep it dry after you're done taking the photos. View my parasailing pics on the website.

I took a disposable camera up with me, and I had the video cam down on the boat to tape DH & I as we each went up. We stayed totally dry for the entire experience.

I am planning on using my disposable water camera. That way if I drop it, I am only out a few bucks...Besides, these have a really sturdy rubber band, that i can use around my wrist to help me keep it.

I am seriously considering taking my video camera up there with me...

Mistake???

Thanks everyone. Wasn't really considering the video camera but now ????? What do you think Beano? Barb, I will definitely have a plastic ziploc bag for the still camera. Hey Beano--how about a gallon size ziploc for the video camera?

There is not much room to move once you are up in the air. Also unless you have one of the newer small digital video camera, trying to shoot and hold on to the strap maybe difficult.

At least from what I re-call. Besides that I have this major fear of droping the equipment.

I did not parasail on the cuise but I have in the past and I have brought up the video camera with me, no problems at all. There is chance you could drop it, but even on the ground there is a chance you can drop it and break it. I had no problem wrapping my arms around the straps of the parasail and holding the camera in front of me.

Jiminy, I am kinda thinking I'll go for it. Probably will take a big ziploc bag to protect it. I am not worried about dropping it too much, just don't want it to get wet! I know that if I don't take it up there, I'll be kicking myself later asking "why why???" ;)

Just think of how cool the footage will be! :)

I haven't gone parasailing on the cruise, but I did go just about two years ago. I brought my Kodak Water Cammera with me. I wouldn't let go of the strap, so I never could aim for what I wanted to get a picture of. I did however take pictures and only 5 of them had a strap in the way of the view. The views came out fine. I LOVE parasailing. Moms is doing it this trip.

hehe. Moms, sounds like soemthing froma Trixie Beldon book.
