Camera strap

The Y Strap looks very intriguing also. I might give that one a shot - I prefer something that connects to the lug on the side of the camera, not the tripod socket. Of course, you could build your own for virtually nothing, but $30 shipped isn't too painful. :) I may want to add some padding to where it goes over the shoulder, though.

Yeah, the Y-strap looks like good except I'd be concerned about the narrowness of the strap and how that would feel on my neck and shoulders (especially if I'm wearing a t-shirt or something without a collar). Looks intriguing though. I wish I was more handy with stuff...I'd build one of my own. LOL

I need help picking out a comfortable one and I need one that is a little longer. I'm *ahem* quite 'blessed' up top and that's usually where the straps end making it quite uncomfortable, not to mention my camera gets tilted forward. I figure someone out there must have the same issues and can help me out. Link me up!

Wadda ya have right now...just the normal Nikon strap? I have found that pretty uncomfortable when using it for a long period of time. About a month after getting my D60 I purchased an OpTech (or maybe OpTek...don't remember the spelling) neoprene strap. Much more cushiony and comfortable and less than $15 on Amazon.com. I'm not sure if it will be long enough for you, but for me who is only reasonably "blessed" it works just fine. :rotfl:

If I can find a link to the exact one I have, I'll add...but probably if you just search on Amazon or Google for OpTech neoprene straps you can find a bunch.

I went to go look at what I have and DH has done something w/it. It's not an Op Tech though. I just hate it, it's too wide and too short. I found the Nikon strap better, lol. I'd really like something that I can wear crosswise and keep the camera just above my hip. Someone posted a strap like that but you had to use your tripod screw thingy* and the camera hung upside down.:scared1: I just don't think I could do that, it would freak me out. Plus I don't have a decent tripod to steal the thingy from, lol!

*please forgive me, the name escapes me atm!

Wen, I have the same problem! Look at it this way, at least we were both blessed :rotfl:

I have only looked so far at the OP Tech Straps in my local store a while ago and they seemed much more comfortable than the standard Nikon strap but I wanted to try it with my camera to see just how long they were (you can adjust them) but then other things cropped up and it went out of my head. I have struggled along with the Nikon strap ever since.

I am going to go into the store this weekend and give the OP Tech a try so if you can hold on for a week and no one else comes back with any advice I will let you know how i get on.

I guess the length of the strap will depend on your overall build. I am quite tall. (5ft 8inches)..

:)

I would really love a strap that you can wear "messenger" style...there would be a lot less bumping and stuff when you bend over with it on as there is with a regular neck strap. I know with my OpTech strap it isn't long enough for that...but if you find one, definitely let us know! I do agree about the tripod screw thingy...I don't know if I could walk around all day knowing my camera was dangling upside down by a screw.

I'm in no hurry, just can't stand my current strap. Let's see, I'm only 5'4" so if it's long enough for you it should be for me though I'm a little on the fluffy side... Love to hear your review. All our real camera stores are down by The Strip and fighting the chaos to get there is so not worth it. But if I get some good suggestions, I'd be willing to go down there.

although you only want answers from ladies I thought I'd reply, go to the optech website, http://www.optechusa.com/category/second/?CATEGORY_ID=4 their strap system is actually a modular system, so you can pick the upper part of the strap, then the lower part, and they do come in different lengths..

Thank you I'll have a look. I only said "Ladies" because I figured they could relate to my issue, lol. I'll take recommendations from all.:thumbsup2

I have the standard optech loop - can't recall the exact name - and it is not long enough. With the Nikon strap, I could wear my camera messenger style, but with the optech one I can't. I'm well, how do you say - just plain Jane average. Now, the optech is very comfy for carrying a camera around your neck all day, but I like to wear my camera messenger style so the lens hood is not always bonking my kids in the head. Last time I was at my local camera store they had some pretty cool print straps - pink paisley, brown and pink stripe, etc. They looked kinda comfy. I'm thinking about picking one of those up next time I go. Plus, it may limit the times my DH runs off with my camera.

I bought a $10 neoprene strap from the Ritz store. Very comfy- plenty long- adjustable. I can wear the camera across my body which I find more comfortable than it hanging in front of me.
Edit to add: I'm 5'4" and not what you'd call blessed up top but the strap seems like it adjusts quite long.

Do you know what brand?

Quantaray. I had to go get it. I just remembered that when I sent my camera in to Nikon last week, I took the strap off.

Thanks for going and looking, much appreciated!:goodvibes And so sorry you're without your camera.

That's the one that hangs your camera upside down right? Does it feel secure to you? Like do you feel like you have to keep checking to make sure the screw isn't coming loose?

Ditto on that. I have the same strap, and it's pretty long. I'm able to carry it messenger style, and I'm slight Pooh-sized too. :)

I did get a little paranoid at first, but you get used to it after awhile and I don't think it's going anywhere haha

The R Strap looks great! I want one, but I do not want to drop $50. Hopefully it will take off and the price will drop. Or, I might just make one myself.

i originally bought the optech pro loop strap and it was not long enought to wear like that so i bought the converters to replace the original clip on strap part http://www.optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=48&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=
i think i bought 3 on the above but i have a canon...now it is long enough to cross over and pretty much ride above my hip by a couple inches or on my shoulder( the strap stays put just on my shoulder and doesn't move around which i love, love the strap as well btw) it's a little lower than the top of my hip bone. i'm 5'7" as reference
