Camera strap

Based on al the great reviews I've read here and elsewhere I bought the Pro Loop also. It will be put to heavy use next week in the parks so I'll let you know if it lives up to it's hype.

.

I bought the Pro Loop. I went with that one after trying about 4 or 5 different styles at my local camera shop and the Pro Loop was the longest. You can extended it further because of the quick release clips.

This is the one I went with at Hunt's Photo (local place for me).

There are some longer one's but I didn't like the feel of them. This one is wider around the neck area. Great feel for me. I think I may go to a local fabric's place to get another set of quick disconnects and some strap to extend it a bit

Overall, a great way to spend $17 on a camera accessory.

i bought the pro loop, but it was to short so bought the pro connectors ...now it's a little longer which i wanted so i could use it across my chest and not have it in my arm pit. i thought the neck pieces were the same between the 2( pro/proloop) but maybe not since i never checked them in a store.( it not the connectors were only 11 a pair) however i probably could have used the pro loop an put it on my shoulder..the grip never slips ( which was what i was afraid of. i wanted an option rather than having it around my neck all day)

I think the Pro or Pro Loop is generally considered the one to have.

It's strange though, we have two Pro Loops, one black that I've had for a while and a red one we bought recently. The black one has more length on the neck strap portion than the red one... the red one was too short for my wife so we swapped the neck part, and she's right! It's just too short.

So now I need to come up with some extender... Op/Tech shows an extra-long (13-19") loop strap on their website but I can't find it for sale anywhere. :( I'll have to come up with something before long...

weird, my short one is red as well, never measured the neck part....a mystery, people who want red are shorter usually;) ? i got the regular longer connectors and that made it long enough but maybe you need the loops to connect your camera, mine is ok with the other non loop type

I could use the non-loop ones but I prefer the loops, and according to their site at least, what I want does exist...

Actually, what would be ideal is small extenders with quick-release connectors on both ends. I thought for sure they sold those; they'd make sense since they'd work with any of their straps.

We have 2 stool type chair that are small for the kids. Since they are still young and like to stand up on things their not supposed to so went to Joann Fabric's and bought a set of QD's and some nylon strap. I think it was $5 total. They did have different sizes of QD's there. I need to go probably tomorrow to make another set up for our 2nd chair and also bring my camera strap and get a QD for that size.

It probably would be cheaper to go to a local fabric shop and make your own.

I think i saw some on B&H.

I am about to order this from Adorama, but really fast, can someone give me a close-up of what the connector straps look like. I saw one that was rather odd looking and didn't look like it was very sturdy. The best picture I can find makes them look different, but I just wanted to make sure before I ordered it along with my new battery grip and wireless remote!!!!

The sraps are fine. I thought they looked real flimsy in the pics at Adorama, but when I got it (just yesterday) they are just fine. They look real thin at the connection point to the camera when you see the pics, but in reality, they are much thicker than they look there. I might agree that the strap is a bit short though. I still haven't really given it a thorough try.

I wouldn't worry about it - they're quite strong, I certainly have no worries when loading up with my heaviest gear, and people use them with much heavier gear than I with no issues. They are definitely sturdy.

ITA !! I really like mine and its such a pleasure not having the thin "nikon" strap cutting into my neck. Either on my shoulder or neck its comfortable. Now...some think its too short, but Im petite and it fits me OK.

I've heard these are great. I'm proud of my Nikon strap, but comfort is more important than cachet! LOL
They have a number of styles. Which one is MOST comfortable?

I love my Nikon but their strap sucks. Any of the optech straps are great. I use one from Nikonians.org and also the pro strap. The first one has an extra wide strip of neoprene.

I do not think you can go wrong with their straps. Your shoulder and neck will thank you.

I bought the Pro Loop Strap also, and I love it.

I only have one concern about our upcoming WDW trip -- it is very wide, and I'm a bit worried it will make my neck hot and sweaty faster than a thinner strap. Any others want to reassure me?

I never saw it as too hot. I would rather sweat some than have my shoulder/neck hurt all day.

Your neck will sweat faster with the Op/Tech strap. After all day, a larger portion of the neck will probably be sore, too - but you'll be a lot less sore overall than with the OEM strap.

I'm still hunting for a decent solution to the problem of one of ours being a little shorter than I'd like. I may end up making my own but I'd really prefer pre-made extensions or longer straps in general (which Op/Tech advertises but nobody has)... oh well.

YesDear, I think one of the Nikon forums has a special edition Nikon version of the Op/Tech Pro strap; you can check for that if you want a branded one.

Trying to decide on a new strap for my Nikon D40 and have narrowed it down to the OP/Tech Classic Strap and OP/Tech Pro Strap. I am leaning towards the Classic strap for its somewhat smaller size. I have read many good things about the pro strap, but wonder if the extra width of the strap can be a somewhat burden when trying to store it in a camera bag or just in general when wearing it. I am not making the pro loops on the Pro strap a deciding factor in my choice. I haven’t read much on the classic strap in the way of reviews and would love to hear some opinions!
