Can anyone recommend a camera strap to replace the uncomfortable one that came with my Canon xti. Something that would be comfy for long time periods. The one that came with it will not cut it. Thanks

Op/tech

Any good neoprene strap will be a major improvement. The Op/Tech straps are my favorite.

Mark,

Can you recommend which Op-Tech one would be good for the Canon 30D? Do I need to buy any other parts to go with it? I have looked at their site many times and just gone away confused. There are too many styles to choose from.

Yes, AndrewWG....I am having the same questions. Hopefully Mark and others can give us some additional tips & info on exact recommendations based on our equiptment..envy, classic, pro, pro loop etc..

I'm no pro, just a woman having fun and have a Nikon D80 + 3 lenses...not getting any younger:rotfl: and just told have bursitis & arthritis in my neck...so looking to ease the hurt for my upcoming 2 month Fla./Carribbean vacation.
Even contemplating leaving the N home..and taking the lighter Fuji on my trip..:headache:
Any thoughts out there??

I've used the classic op/tech strap for years - on my old D60 and my 1DsMkII. I love it and have had no problems with it. The quick release is a great feature since all straps get twisted over time and it is easy to untwist them with the quick release. Plus, you can easily take it off when the camera is on a tripod and you don't want the strap to get in the way of your photo.

On some neoprene straps, the rubber deteriorates and rubs off on you. Not with the Classic. The edges are sealed (sewn). I've used them at WDW and other hot locations and not had an issue with them.

Sharon,

Would that be this one?

Or would this one be better?

I've got three. I've got a classic on my 10D. I bought it back in 2001 knowing nothing about Op/Tech or neoprene straps. I just saw it at a store (I think it was the gift shop at Zion NP) and immediately wanted it. I didn't realize it was an Op/Tech until I just inspected it a couple of minutes ago. It doesn't say, but I'm assuming that it is a classic.

For my 1DM2, I bought a Pro. I couldn't figure out what advantage the Pro Loop would give me. I bought the pro because my camera is exceptionally heavy for a DSLR and I often carry it with a 70-200 f/2.8 lens.

I also have a tripod strap from them as well.

I'm not really sure what to say about which strap YOU should get. I'd get the pro if you think your camera is really heavy. I'd get the classic if you don't. I don't understand the point of the loop stuff. This chart might help.

Thanks Mark! I think I'll go with the pro as, although the 30D isn't especially heavy, I do use the 70-200 f2.8 alot and will be using that lens almost all summer at the baseball games. I also have the lens cradle but although I like it's functions, I find that I always carry the camera by the base of the lens anyways.

Thanks again. Off to order one now. Now which color should I get.... :scratchin

It looks as though the difference is all in the connectors. The loop version has a connector that is easier to use in tight places. And, as the name implies, you can loop the strap through the connection area to form a slip knot.

the loop connectors are shorter than the pro..i bought the pro loop and it was to short( wanted to wear it across chest rather than just on neck or shoulder so i ended up buying new connectors( pro) and changing them...so i'd go with the pro unless you are like 5 ft tall. i really like the strap though as it doesn't slide around if it's on your shoulder and is more comfy on your neck( i get tired of it around my neck sometimes so that is when i switch to the shoulder) seneca beach might want to consider this due to neck/shoulder pain. you can shorten the straps if they are to long

but if you want to consider a color other than black, i was crazy when i bought it and got the burgundy...UGLY, dayglow burgundy, so stick with the black

I carried my XTi around WDW for 8 days straight last month using this very same strap, only in black ;) It's a winner for sure, I mostly carried on my shoulder but it was equally as comfortable on my neck.

I love my Pro Loop strap - the reason I got the Loop version was because it's what was in stock at the local college's photography store. :)

My wife recently borrowed my K100D to take on a cruise with her girlfriends, and came back with two discoveries... 1) she missed using an SLR and will want to use a DSLR a lot more, and 2) she requires an Op/Tech Pro strap to keep it comfortable.

Oh, and she bought a new sling bag to carry the camera in, but any excuse to buy a bag is a good one for her. ;)
