Hi
I'm not very knowledgeable about cameras and own an old Easy Share Kodak Digital Camera. I would like to get a small digital camera with a viewfinder for my trip in August. I looked at a Sony Cyber Shot W55 on sale for 139.50 with 7.20 megapixels and 3X optical zoom. The price seemed good, but is the camera any good? Any recommendations for other cameras? Thanks!

I would not have another Easy Share Kodak Digital Camera. The one I had (a 6x) would not focus when you zoomed all the way in, the picture always came out blurry.
I also agree with YEKCIM that a 3x zoom will leave you wishing you had a better zoom.

www.cnet.com rates your camera fairly well for a point and shoot. The price you quoted seems VERY good for that camera.

For a few bucks more, I'd suggest something in the Canon p and s line.

Even if you aren't camera savvy now, you do have an interest in photography; it would be good to get a camera that takes good point and shoot shots while also allowing you to test some other areas of manual control, in hopes of ultimately preparing you for a DSLR down the road.

Look into the Canon S3 IS and Canon S5 IS. :thumbsup2

There is a long running thread of users here if you want more info.

They might be a little big for your tastes so be sure to check out the size. The zoom is really great, and you can grow in you photography skills with it if you want to. (I carry mine in my pocketbook so it's really not that big.)
