Just reminding everyone to check out their cameras before the Podcast cruise.
Don't forget to have more than one memory card, plan to use more than one card during the day. That way if one fails or you lose it you haven't lost all your photos. Also remember to back them up. You should do more than one backup. Lots of folks backup to a computer but you should also have another one on a external hard drive or cd's or dvd's. Don't use a sharpie marker to mark the cd because it can cause the disc to fail over years. They do make archival markers. Label your memory card with your name and phone number or make the first shot on every memory card your contact information. That way it can be returned to you.
Take the image at the highest quality. It is easier to downsize a large image than to take a small image and make it bigger. Memory is cheap so take the image at a high quality. Wouldn't you hate to miss that once in a lifetime picture because you were saving space on your memory card with lots of small images?
Lots of batteries, don't forget your battery charger if your camera requires one.
Don't forget that the flash on most cameras is only good for 10 feet. If you are far away a flash isn't going to help the picture.
Take the time to read your instruction manual. I carry it in my camera bag at all times.
There are going to be lots of great opportunities for photos on the Podcast cruise. I especially enjoy getting those early sunrise shots or the spectacular sunset photos. How about you?
