I need a fairly cheap, easy to use, point and shoot digital camera that takes decent pictures both indoor and out, plus good fireworks pictures. Any suggestions?
lot of options in that area and prices have been coming down. We just bought a Canon Power Shot AS-590. It's Thicker than many of the small cameras. I personally like that since I felt like I was fumbling the smaller cameras. It's a simple camera to use, but it has options that allow you to refine your photography skills if you choose to do so. So far we've had good luck with it. If you want a slimmer camera the SD790 IS is another option. It's a bit higher in cost.
I'm a Costco member and they had an Olympus FE-370 for $99. That price includes a 1 GB card. A 1 GB card isn't enough memory for a trip but it's a good back up card to have.
Both have facial recognition software that can focus on multiple faces. They also have image stabilization which is important if you're trying to get quick shots.
A good site to find out about a particular camera is cnet.com. They have editorial and consumer reviews of many cameras. They also shop different sites for price. For some reason newegg.com doesn't appear to be on their list anymore.
If you do order online I would look at memory card costs. The retail locations seemed to cost a lot more than online when i was looking.
The new Canon cool pix is excellent...we just bought it for my son. Its about $100 in wallmart. You cant go wrong with Canon as their lenses are awesome in point and shoot cameras.
I actually just ordered that Costco camera last night for 99.99... its a great deal ! I needed a compact camera for our trip and I needed something dependable ... so we shall see
