Camera error

When I try to take a picture, the flash fires and the shutter seems to get stuck. I get a message saying camera error. I would turn it off, wait a few minutes then turn it back on and it would work fine. It fell off the tripod a week or so ago but seemed just fine after, and worked great. I thought orginally it might have been the cold (we were outside in a shed) but I just tried it now in the house and its still doing this. I was using auto when all this was occuring. What could this be?
ETA-after flipping though all the modes it worked in all of them including auto, but the screen is flickering.

I think something cracked inside when it fell off the tripod. Now a connection inside is intermittent. You will continue to have problems that come and go.

Are there some modes that don't give trouble? YOu may just need to stick to using those modes. Or it's time to replace or repair the camera.

Oooo yeah... the problem with falls is that trouble might not be apparent at first. The cold could have made parts contract, making anything that was possibly a hairline crack or something a whole lot worse.

But this is all supposition.

Ick sounds like its time to visit the repair shop. The odd thing is it comes and goes! Well, while I get that fixed I guess I can get the screen flickering taken care of too!
