Camera & Computer Recommendations

I have a Nikon D40 that I bought maybe 12 years ago. I need to get it service because it's not functioning properly, but I also might just replace it.

Any recommendations for a great camera that can take action sports shots of the kids? I would need one that I could switch out the lens to a zoom lens as well.

Also, DD may be taking a photography class next year in high school, so one that would be great for her as well.

I am thinking of adding this to our family Christmas gift list.

For a computer, we have been looking at the Microsoft Surface Pro as it has great recommendations and the kids can carry it to school, I can carry it to our weekend travel sports competitions, etc. How is the Microsoft Surface Pro on photo editing? I have thought one or twice about getting a Macbook Air or similar Mac laptop for the photo editing. Honestly, the iMac we use to have I detested the Microsoft Office on it and my college professors commented my margins were off on papers when they were correct on my end, so I stopped using it for papers and used my other laptop and never had any margin issues.
