Camera check list

Even though I've had a DSLR for many years I find myself suffering from CADD (Camera Attention Deficit Disorder) when ever I use my camera.

I've decided that it is essential for me to have a Camera Check list before I start to shoot.

It's really a simple thing, but pulling out this little square of paper before I get ready to shoot will help to ensure I'm not about to make some bone head mistake like leaving the ISO at 3.4 million or having the metering system on spot and I need it on area.

I have flash card pockets on my camera strap so I printed this out and I keep it right there, next to the extra memory card for quick reference.

I already know what is on the card, but having it printed out MAKES me check off the list in a systematic way so I don't forget, or, if I get distracted I know to check through just to be sure.

PROGRAM MODE!
Focus mode
Meter mode
Aperture/ Shutter spd.
Auto focus on
VR on/off?
ISO
1 frame/ 3 frame burst?
Raw + fine
LOOK THRU +
USE FOCUS BRACKETS

Hopefully this little system of organization will make your pictures better and prevent those brain dead moments we all seem to know so well!

I do just the opposite, as I put the gear away at the end of shooting, I return the settings to my base of Av, ISO 100, spot focus, multi-segment metering, AF.S. Usually I'm running out with the camera and If I try to remember while rushing, I'm dead in the water!!
