I have been using the Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW. It is light, quick and easy to access gear and all weather!

Along the lines of this thread- do you go on rides with your camera? My next trip will be my first with a DSLR, and honestly, I'm a little nervous about bringing it on rides with me, but I'm also nervous about leaving it somewhere else. I want to really be a part of my vacation and not just shooting it, but I also want to document the magic around me. What do you do?

We took our DSLR on all rides without incident. The only one that made me a little nervous was the Rock n' Rollercoaster, and all I did for that was put the camera in it's bag (Crumpler 4MDH) put the bag between my legs and put my leg through the strap. We had brought along a point & shoot, just in case lugging the DSLR around got tiring at some point but it never did, we never even used the P&S!

Usually, it makes me somewhat sad that my sister is a ride chicken..but I think this trip it'll work out nicely..:rotfl: She can babysit my camera while I'm riding..this will be my first trip with a DSLR also.

Although, she rides things like KRR so I want to find a bag that's waterproof for that reason and because of rain..anyone know of any like this?

As long as my camera my lenses and my extra battery fit in my bag I'm set. It's a snug fit but I love my camera bag and I take my camera with me everywhere! So smaller size is good for me! Why dont you take your camera and whatever else you plan on putting in your bag to your nearest camera store or electronic store and try out different bags? See for what works for you

I don't use a bag in the parks.

I have my DSLR on a BlackRapid strap, and I select a lens that I want to use for that particular park outing. If I want to bring another lens, I just put it in a LowePro lenscase and toss that into whatever bag my wife is bringing into the park -- usually a smaller Mickey backpack.

I like having my camera at the ready, and don't want to get weighed down with all the equipment that I don't or won't use that day.

Regards,

Boris
Like you, my DSLR is always out and if I decide to bring an extra lens, I put that into a case and throw it in my park purse (a Vera Bradley Betsy with 6 internal pockets). If by chance I want/need to put my camera away, there's plenty of room in my VB Bag to hold the camera as well :thumbsup2

Sometimes I wish it were socially acceptable for me to carry a purse.... :hippie:

Here's a similar thread that I started last year when I had the same question. A number of people included pictures of their bags.

The Think Tank modular belt system is Great! Best "bag" I've ever had the pleasure to use. Pack light or pack heavy, no sweaty backs and no sore shoulders, plus everything is right where you need it.

Actually, one of the problems I had was that the camera store didn't have a bad I liked or was the right size.

I got one anyway, but ended up returning it.

The bag I ordered was recommended here on this board and I LOVE it. I ordered from Amazon so that I could return it if needed.

My bag has room for stuff like a wallet too, so when I take it places, I don't carry a purse with me.

I would LOVE to get a Crumpler bag too, but right now I can't justify the cost as I would prefer to get some other camera equipment.

Besides, a black camera backpack is the new Kate Spade, right? HA!

I wrap my camera bag (Crumpler $6M) strap around my neck and put on a poncho - essentially riding with my camera bag on my lap when I ride KRR. Never had a problem doing this.

I use both a Tamrac Adventure 7 and a Tamrac Velocity 8. Neither is perfect, but the last trip in December was with the Velocity 8 and I would have to give it the edge for functionality.

For waterproofing, I use one of the XXL Ziploc bags. Big enough for the entire camera bag.

This is my big bag that is half camera bag have family backpack. The laptop space is great for storing rain coats, zip lock bags, and a large trash bag (which came in handy on friday). I use the top for my daughter's snacks and a small umbrella. the camera space is great and can hold all my gear. I tend to leave some of the stuff behind in order to lighten the load. There are 2 very good bottle holders on the outside that have never lost a bottle.

I knew this was a bigger bag than I needed, but I wanted extra space to carry a days worth of family supplies. This is a change from when I carried a camera bag and my wife had the diaper/toddler bag. The idea what to merge both and so far this has been a good fit.

This is my first bag that just holds the camera. I take this when I want to travel really light and do not plan on swapping lenses.

$300!!! pirate: Ouch, guess I'll move on to the next Beta program or go back to the software provided with the camera. Wow, I figured it would cost a few bucks but not 3 bills.... ouch...:sad2:

from the website, the student can be a primary/secondary school child....so I can use my middle schooler?
