Hi all,

My dh is having trouble finding the 'perfect' camera bag. He has got a Panasonic GF1 with a 14-140 panasonic lens, it also has to hold a panasonic 45-200 & a 20mm pancake lens.

He is looking for something quite compact, but anything he has tried has either been too small or far too big for everyday carrying around.

Any and all recommendations would be very welcome.

Many thanks:thumbsup2

Amazing. I was just going to ask for recommendations on this subject, although my needs are a little different.

I need a shoulder bag that will hold the 5D Mk II with battery grip and 24-105mm lens, a spare lens, and the 580 EX II flash. A few pockets for ancillary items.

If it also wasn't hideous, that would be nice too.

I would suggest that you stop looking for the perfect bag, it will drive you crazy. I now have 3 different sized bags from camera only to full backpack. I really do not think that one perfect bag exists that meet/exceeds the needs for more than one person. I gave up asking others and started a list of what I want in a bag for a given scenario. My latest scenario; I wanted a backpack capable of carrying my gear and everything we typically take/want/need all the stuff we had in a small toddler bag (snacks, whipes, sunscreen, ect) for a day in the parks. With a place to attach a tripod if desired.

I went with the Tamrac Adventure 9 bag. This bag has room for all my camera gear, a decent area for carrying snacks, sunscreen and stuff used in a day at the parks. Plus, the laptop portion is generous enough to fit small umbrella, small ponchos for emergency purposes and even my rain gear if I feel like testing mother nature. There are 2 exterior bottle holders that are well designed to handle various sided bottles. While the back is large it makes life easier and eliminates the need for my wife to carry an additional backpack. Two birds, one stone. Plus, as a bonus is has a place to attach an carry a tripod!

I like the option of having multiple bags to choose from based on a given situation.

Here's what I put as an answer to someone else's question about bags....

I have a Lowepro Pro Runner 200 AW. What I like about it is the fact that it's just for "camera stuff". So the exclusion of a misc. compartment cuts down on size. It also had a holder for a small tripod, as well as a rain cover.

A couple of pics (not mine)...

(there's another small compartment kind of where the tripod attaches.... good for holding accesories)

Does anyone know if you can add the same PhotoPass card to multiple accounts? 4 of us will be in WDW soon and will likely want to share photos after we get back. We're two couples going, and each couple will possibly have different wants - editing photos a certain way, ordering specific products. It'd be great if we could all have access to all the photos without having to share account names and passwords to do it.

Amazingly, I haven't yet found on answer on the many photopass threads or at stitchkingdom...

Thanks!

it's there :) in the editing photos section

Note that once a Disney's PhotoPass card is associated with one account, it can not be added to another account. What some guests who wish to duplicate photos between accounts like to do is visit one of the Disney's PhotoPass locations while on site and have the photos copied from one card to another (if you do this, make sure to double-check that all of the photos remain associated with both cards). If for some reason, a card becomes associated with the wrong account, have the account incorrectly with the card contact Disney's PhotoPass and request that the photos be transferred to the correct account (specify the correct account's email address).

Bah. I feel like a fool for cluttering the forum with my useless thread. Thanks for pointing this out to me, since I apparently can't read!

Thanks so much for the help. I think packing it into our rucksack is going to be the best option. DH is completely gutted that there isn't a perfect camera bag:rotfl2:

Thanks again:thumbsup2

Ok, so I just got back from 10 fabulous days at the World with my new camera in tow. I had no idea how many pictures I would end up taking!! I need to remember to bring more memory cards for the next trip.

Anyway, I ended up carrying the camera bag with me every day, which was not my original plan. I found that the bag was very comfortable even when fully loaded. It did not bother my back or neck at all, and we did a few marathon days! It was very easy on and off, and it fit well on the rides. I also liked that the camera was easy to access as I did end up putting it in and out of the bag a lot as we went on rides and such.

As for negatives, I found that it was a little small for park touring. As the mom, I usually end up carrying the daily supplies for the family, water, Band-Aids, snacks, etc. There was really no room in the bag for extras and I had to get creative. Part way through the week we ended up buying another camera bag for the video camera so that my husband could carry it. He's the videographer anyway so that made sense for us. I didn't carry the gorilla pod into the parks and I had a water bottle attachment for the outside of the bag which ended up being a necessity.

My only really bad experience with the bag happened in our hotel room. It was late night after we had been in the parks all day. I had the bag on the bed and didn't realize that I had not zipped up the camera compartment. I picked the bag up and the camera went flying out on to the floor. :scared1: The uv filter that I had on the lens shattered into a million little shards all over the carpet! Thank goodness the camera and lens were unharmed though.

Overall, I really liked how the bag worked and would definitely recommend it.

This is the bag that I use for the parks. It holds my D40 with battery grip and a couple of lenses. I put my small camcorder in the upper section and have a small monopod that I slide into the strap on the side.

They have a 200 and 300 models which are larger.

I would suggest looking at ThinkTank Photo, they have a line called Urban Disguise which would meet his needs quite well and do don't scream camera bag.

I have three of their bags, one which is a rolling bag for all of my gear and they have all held up really, really well.

I am going to WDW in Dec. Wright now I am using a Kata 3n1 30. I am wondering if it will be too big of a bag. I measure a same size as the back pack I used last time I went to WDW but it will be heavier! Should I go for a smaller bag to go into the parks? What bag do you use? This will be my first
time taking a DSLR there.

I use the Lowepro Fastpack 200 and the DW uses the Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW. We both have our own DSLR 'kit'.

I don't use a bag in the parks.

I have my DSLR on a BlackRapid strap, and I select a lens that I want to use for that particular park outing. If I want to bring another lens, I just put it in a LowePro lenscase and toss that into whatever bag my wife is bringing into the park -- usually a smaller Mickey backpack.

I like having my camera at the ready, and don't want to get weighed down with all the equipment that I don't or won't use that day.

Regards,

Boris

I've got 2 differnet bags I use. Depends how much stuff I'm taking in. I have a Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a Lowepro Rezo 140 AW. The smaller bag is nice if I know I need minimal stuff. It fits a flash, camera, and an extra lens plus a small amt of misc stuff. The all weather cover is a VERY nice feature! In the past, I've had to duck into merch stores too many times and ask for a bag! Lol!

Loving this thread- there are a LOT of excellent suggestions here. I'll definiately be looking into these!

Along the lines of this thread- do you go on rides with your camera? My next trip will be my first with a DSLR, and honestly, I'm a little nervous about bringing it on rides with me, but I'm also nervous about leaving it somewhere else. I want to really be a part of my vacation and not just shooting it, but I also want to document the magic around me. What do you do?
