I always have a few in my bag. Again, I am not sure if they make a difference, but they certainly don't hurt. When ever we purchase anything with that contains these, I always set them aside for my bag.

On another note, I have a friend who uses those hand-warmers in his bag for our cold New England winters. He take a good number of photos at swimming matches and puts in a hand warmer before he leaves the house. This way the lenses are up to temperature when he gets to the meet.

I thought about using them at one point, but I could never be sure if they were good or not. By this I mean that the packets are silica gel and after they have sucked up the moisture in the air, they are useless until they are activated again by drying in an oven at about 100 deg C. I have these at work and use them all the time, but wouldn't have any idea how to package it for use at home. So, I don't use the ones that come in shoe boxes or anything as I have no idea how long they have been in use already and would guess that they are no good anymore.

I would think that any of them regardless of age can be re-activated in the oven and re-used as-is. But don't go too high with the temperature trying to speed up the process. That could decompose the active ingredients.

Yeah, I would think that they can be reactivated, but I don't know how much temp the little packets they are in can handle. I suppose that the stuff could be emptied out and then put back into the packets and stapled together again. Never tried it. If it is like the stuff at work, it has a color changing chemical in it to tell you if it is worn out or not. When it is filled with moisture, it will be pink like this: and when it is dried out and ready to be used again, it is blue like this: .

Some camera store carry them and sporting goods stores carry them. I dont know how much help they would be thought. If your bag was sealed it may but an open breathable bag, I dont know how much help thay would be. I keep a set in a sealed case for my daughters hearing aids, the case is like water proof case with a rubber seal around it.

That is a good point. I didn't even think of that. If you store a camera in a regular "open" bag, the little packets won't do a darned bit of good. The camera would have to be in a rather air tight container, otherwise the air around it will change moisture levels constantly and the camera won't gain any protection from the packets.

FWIW, I don't think it would really matter anyways. I don't think that the camera would be harmed in any way by moisture levels in the air.

The only areas it may affect, but not permant harm is in july and august with the high humidity going from air conditions area to the high humidity, you may have condensation build up. I have seen it on the viewfinder so you could not see, on the mirror and again you could not see and even on the sensor whice you could see to take a pic but the images came out soft.

I usually keep a little packet of silica gel in the bottom of my camera bag. I doubt it makes much of a difference, but it's tiny and weighs nearly nothing, so I figure what the heck.

Just came back and am preparing my photos for the CD. I've checked stitch kingdom and Disney's PhotoPass page, but can't find anything about adding pictures from the Photo Gallery. Can I add as many of those as I want to my CD also or is there an additional charge?

Hey I am just wondering what type of camera bag yall bring when you are going to the parks? Do you bring a backpack type one or one that wrests over the shoulder? What type do you find more comfortable and suited to bring to the parks/? Thanks

Definitely a backpack. Shoulder bags keep sliding off. Actually I now have a sling pack which is great.

Currently use a Lowepro Slingshot 200. It has been working just fine for me, but recently I have seen a few messager style ones that I thought didn't look too bad.

I have done both. I have two Crumpler Bags, an over the shoulder and backpack style. I tend to prefer the over the shoulder bag, since the backpack gets sort of warm and it is easier to get into the shoulder bag.

I just ordered a Domke F-2 ORIGINAL BAG because my crumpler bags were a bit too small. I will let you know what I think of that once it arrives.

a photographers vest, everything is easy to get to, no need to worry about setting a bag down then picking it up again to move on... even distribution of weight, easier on rides than dealing with a bag,

and last but not least, there's nothing more fun than having people mistake you for a photo pass photographer, especially when it's a photopass photographer that thinks you are one of them...LOL

I prefer a messenger type bag. It is very easy to change lenses while standing in line etc. The drawback of a backpack is that you have to take it off every time you want to get something out. And having to "sling" the sling looked a little bit cumbersome. But many really like them. Go to a camera store and try a few different styles with your gear.

The suggestion to try a few in the store with your gear is a good one. I prefer a backpack. I'd be in agony after a day of schlepping all my gear around in a messenger bag. I bought a Lowepro Slingshot 200 expecting it to have some of the benefits of both, but it's really not that comfortable unless I make the straps pretty tight, in which case my stuff is no easier to access than it is in a backpack. YMMV though.

Would you share what kind of messenger bag you use? I have a sling style bag, but lately my back has been hurting. I think it's the added weight of my 24-70mm f/2.8 and I think I'm too short! I'm thinking a messenger bag would be a better fit for me. thanks.

Well, I'm kind of a bag junkie, so I have a few. I have a Crumpler $7mil bag that holds all my gear. But that is way too big and heavy to lug around all day at WDW. Then I use the Crumpler $5mil bag as my day bag and pack what I will need for that day. The $5mil is a comfortable size for me. I found most bags to be too "boxy", but this one fits me really well. I also have a KATA bag (Focus Q) that is very comfortable to carry, but I don't like the inside configuration as well.

The other thing I like about my Crumpler $5mil bag is that is has loops on the outside where I can strap on a lens case, water bottle holder, etc. I can usually slip my wallet, sunglasses, etc in the bag also and it doubles as my purse when we travel. The one negative is that the velcro on it can be loud. But I haven't found that to be too big of an issue. And besides, they have fun colors!

Well, I'm kind of a bag junkie,

I used to be a jacket-junkie, but in recent years, it's changed to bags too. My lowepro slingshot is great for my DH when he is being the sherpa, but it just doesn't sit right on me. I'll have to look into the Crumpler. Thanks.
