Hi, I am still SO confused on where to stay. I am now torn between the Carousel Inn and Camelot Inn. If anyone can help me with any or all of my questions and concerns I will be VERY GRATEFUL!!!! Forgive me because I know some of my questions are silly ones!!!

Does the Carousel have a room with a king bed plus a pull out sofa bed?? I haven’t seen it listed on their site but maybe they don’t list everything that’s available? We are really after a king bed for us and the sofa that turns into a bed for our daughter. Also wondering if that would give us more room than a room with 2 queen beds???

I’ve read some reviews that the Carousel has small rooms so wondering if the Camelot has larger rooms???

Has anyone stayed at both….which did you prefer and why? Unlike most people we won’t be spending all of our time in the park because DD needs her day naps and goes to bed fairly early at night so while we’re in our room we don’t want to feel too cramped or bored etc…have read that the TV reception / channel availability at the Carousel isn’t too good….. True?????? Any better at the Camelot?????

The Tropicana is listed as the sister hotel of the Camelot….has anyone stayed at both of these and can tell me the difference (if any) to the rooms. Wondering because I believe I read that the Tropicana’s rooms are smaller than the Carousels??????

Do the fridges at either place have freezer compartments????

Does either hotel have an ice machine?????

Are the rooms at either hotel bright or dark? I got put off by BWPPI because I read quite a few reviews that the rooms were really dark. I like bright (unless I want to make it dark).

I’ve read a few reviews that the Camelot’s beds are really uncomfortable and have plastic mattress covers…..still true????

Okay, I think that’s it at the moment. If anyone made it through this thanks for bearing with me!

I have not stayed at the Carousel but have stayed at both the Tropicana and the Camelot so I can comment on those. I found our room at the Camelot to be a bit dark. It was very clean however. Our room at the Tropicana felt brighter, it was facing towards Harbor where as my room at the Camelot (and Best Western Park Place) faced a different direction. So maybe that was why they felt different, they just faced the wrong way. You might request a light, bright room, regardless of where you stay. The Tropicana is a bit closer to the parks than the Camelot. They both have pretty nice pools, the Camelot's is GREAT for viewing the fireworks since its rooftop. That can be nice if you have a little one that is too young to stay in the parks for that. Outside the park, that pool deck at the Camelot is the best place I have found for the fireworks. The Tropicana's pool is also nice and has a huge hottub. They both have a free breakfast, that is pretty basic but gets you going. Room size they seemed about equal. The Tropicana is prettier outside, a bit less of a parking lot feeling. They are both very close to McDonald's the Camelot is right next to it.

Two things I can tell you about the Carousel, the breakfast is supposedly better than the Tropicana's and they don't have a hottub. I know a lot of people are very loyal to it so it must be fairly nice. But I never book there because we like our hottub!

I know the Tropicana used to have plastic mattress covers so maybe the Camelot did too (it didn't when we stayed there but that was a couple of years ago). At the Tropicana, the covers didn't bother us a bit, they offered to remove them but we didn't need them to. I believe they have since taken them off all the beds.

Overall, I just preferred the Tropicana. It was still a motel, nothing fancy but I preferred the decor of the rooms and the outside over the Camelot. And since it was closer (not by much but every bit counts) that cinched it for me! Good luck, I know it gets overwhelming trying to decide with so many choices! But I think of your three, you can't go wrong, they all get pretty stable, good reviews.

After a 2 night stay and we were very happy with our stay!! We we arrived they had one of their larger rooms but that section of the hotel had no elevators and they had us on the third floor!!!! My husband said no way!!! So, they put us in the other section which I thought the rooms were perfectly fine!! The best part of the hotel was the location!! The Tropicana was next door and closer the the crosswork to the Disneyland entrance but we are only talking a matter of a few feet!! I originally had booked the Tropicana and cancelled it! The manager wasn't nice at all!!! But it did look like a nice hotel!!

I hope this helps!!

We have stayed at the Carousel, our room had two queen beds, I'm not aware of other layouts. Carousels rooms were bigger than Tropicanna, as someone here thought Tropicannas rooms was the same size as Camelots one would assume Carousel has bigger rooms. We were travelling as a family of 4 and did not feel cramped at all. We had no problems with TV reception in our room. Carousel had a better fridge and microwave than Tropicanna and yes the fridge at Carousel had a freezer albeit small. Carousel room we had was light and airy, as there are two sets of elevators and we were in the middle of them we had very few people walking past so it was very quiet.

I think this was all your questions hope it helps

We have stayed at the Camelot, Carousel and Tropicana. Just returned from DL on Wednesday and had a king room at the Tropicana. We were surprised the mattress felt hard as we never felt that way with the 2 queen bed rooms. We still prefer the Camelot overall. We have had a king room with sofa bed, 2 queen room, and the family suite at the Camelot and the rooms were always very clean. Refrigs do have a small ice compartment at Camelot and Tropicana...they are run by the same bei-hotels.com corporation. I can't really remember the room amenities at Carousel but our first choice for booking is Camelot followed by Tropicana.

Thanks very much everyone! Mind if I just ask a couple more questions???

ITINKSO: Did the king room have a bathtub and did it seem big enough for 3 people with room to move?

KIWITRAVEL: Your room at the Carousel pretty much sounds ideal if we can't get a king bed room!!! Do you happen to remember what room number it was and/or what floor?? I know the chances of getting it are slim but maybe we could get close to that section or side that is brighter.

Yes, the king room at Tropicana and Camelot had tubs. Tropicana room was very spacious...plenty of room for a rollaway if needed. I remember the king/sofa bed room at Camelot also being quite large. We had been impressed by the size.

Can't remember room number but we were only one flight up from ground (carparks on ground floor), and were only three or so rooms from the front. The hotel is long and narrow and goes away from the road, so rooms at the back have a longer walk albeit only a 100 yards or so. There is a single elevator at the front and a set of double elevators half way down, this meant we had very few people walking past our door on the nights we didn't go to see Mickey. In 2004 we stayed at the Tropicanna on the ground floor and this was a real problem, had to leave your curtains pulled all day otherwise everyone looked in and then people talking as they went past at midnight...:scared: If you stay at the Tropicanna I would only go as high as the first floor up as I remember the lifts there being real slow... I gave up waiting for them most days I went to get Breakfast.

For all that we found the Tropicanna very good, the breakfast is better at the Carousel and the pool is better at the Tropicanna. Sounds like all three of these hotels are good though..

Camelot has King suites with a King bed in the living area and a separate bedroom with 2 queens. The swimming pol is geared for children as it is only 3 1/2 ft deep.

Thanks so much for replying...AGAIN:flower3: !!!! Gee, I LOVE this site and how helpful everyone is! I feel so guilty I have nothing I can contribute....yet anyway....in 7 months I just might be able to help others:)
