Cam & Howard's Vow Renewal PJ -1/12/09 - WP&WH--p.98: TRIP REPORT BEGINS

Laura -- First of all, congrats on the 4 pound weight loss!!

Thank you. It sure is hard work. Also thank you the posting picture thing but I really wanted to know how you got the pictures on the gum labels. You said something about putting them in shutterfly and then on labels. I'm sorry that you had to post that explanation because I do know who to post pictures in a post but thanks anyway.;)

I just got awesome news -- cross-posted from the Minnie thread cause I KNEW you guys would care! ;)

OMG!! I just got word. I AM GOING TO MINNIE WEEKEND!!!! :yay: :cool1:
I just can't imagine missing an opportunity to be with my WISH teammates. I have been so SAD!!! :sad1:
My trial has been postponed!! :woohoo:
I'm so excited!!!! :grouphug:

Yeah. I wish I could go too.

Oops! Sorry! Using them for labels is MUCH easier! I saved the clipart to my desktop, opened a word document and set up the labels and decided where to insert the clipart. Then I clicked on insert, then file, then chose the clipart. It usually came in too large for the label space but if you click on the clipart in your word document so that it gets a box around it and then you click on the corner and push it toward the center of a picture, it makes it smaller. Hope that is clearer! :cutie:

yes that's pretty simple. That's how I thought you did it but just wanted to make sure. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Patty! I was actually going to tell you in person since you weren't near enough today to hear me shrieking in glee! :rotfl: I am so glad you are here now! Oh, and by the way, I can't meet you at the gym on May 2 or May 5. Sorry, sweetie! :cutie:

Well you have a very good excuse, so you are forgiven. I'll be thinking of you that weekend!!!

Thank you so much, Stacie. Those designs are so beautiful and creative! Can you believe how generous those DISers are? I can't imagine the time and effort it takes to create some of those original designs.

Not much new here. I followed up yesterday with the vendor on the sewing kits and found out that the order correction never got put in their system so they were going to rush print it today and get it out by priority mail. AMAZING customer service!!

I ordered some stuff from minimus.biz which has a banner ad on the DIS for travel size items and I was able to get more pieces for the bear essentials bags at $0.10 - .30/item. :woohoo: I am so happy to try to anticipate our guests' needs and maybe make their WDW stays a bit easier! :grouphug: Now, if that stuff arrives before I leave for the Minnie, I can also take the bear essentials bags to put in storage. :yay:

I found a very nice calligraphy font free download that I think will work nicely for our placecards, when we are ready to print them.

I received confirmation that our invitation components from cardsandpockets have shipped.

Also received confirmation that the gym bags that will be our welcome bags have shipped.

There are so many really important, substantive things that we won't be able to do until much later (placecards, table numbers, programs, vows, music selections, etc.) that it feels great to get these pieces tended to. :goodvibes

Oh Cam!! I'm so happy for you. :woohoo:

Kristen

Thank you, Kristen! I really needed the good news this week. Monday was the three year anniversary of when my Dad died of cancer (yesterday was the anniversary of his funeral) and as you know, my Mom died 16 days later, inexplicably. This is just a really tough time of year. I really NEED to be away with my girlfriends for the Minnie especially since that Saturday is my Mom's birthday. I am really looking forward to being distracted. Getting the great news yesterday really helped.

I am so glad for you, Cam, to get to go for Minnie :dance3: I will be there too staying at OKW!

I was looking at your excellent idea for welcome bags! I had thought of that and could not decide still. Are you going to try to personalize them in any way or just hang something on the outside with their names?

Lisa -- I thought they'd be much more likely to be used at home by our guests after our event if the bags are not personalized with our information or logo. Instead, we will put them in some kind of a bag -- maybe a colored shopping bag with handles, close the top, and hang a tag on it with the guest names, reservation number, arrival dates, etc. We'll probably decorate the outside in some fashion, too. But this will just be an inexpensive paper bag with the real value being the gym bags inside.

Well, I got a few more things taken care of this weekend. Everything is in the bear necessities bags now, except the emergency sewing kits, which should arrive in the next couple of days. Then those can be sealed and packed.

The mickey gel pen packs are all wrapped. They took a while but I did them yesterday while I watched "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" which I'd never seen. What a riot! Now I have to work on wrapping the notepads. I think there are probably 25 or so of those.

It looks like we have lost 2 guests, but I had been somewhat skeptical of whether they'd come anyway. My favorite aunt and uncle have never had a vacation since their honeymoon about 18 years ago. They'd registered for the half marathon and were already saving to come down for a weekend, but have decided that worries about his elderly parents are creating too much stress and worry. I am not sure why they are deciding this early (I got a voicemail last night but it was too late to call my aunt back), but I think they will probably not come. I will miss them dearly and I am hoping I may be able to talk them into keeping their options open or maybe even talking my aunt into coming by herself, but I just dont' know if that will happen. :sad1:

The other significant project I finished this weekend was designing a logo of sorts for us. I'm not sure yet what we will use it for, but had an idea for it and was able to execute it. Somehow, keeping this all very, very casual makes me think we won't end up using it or maybe not extensively, but it is cute to have! :cutie:

Howard is totally swamped with the final month of his MBA program, so I am trying not to bother him with a lot of details, but I have a whole list of items to discuss with him when he is through his last final/paper/project/presentation!

Cam,

Forgot to tell you this am.... got my bags over the weekend. Aubre used hers already. Thanks again for letting me know. What a great deal.

That is best not to personalize the bags and cause them to never be used for a useful purpose. I am very against unnecessary waste anyway! :thumbsup2

I am sorry about your two guests early decline! We are in that week before final payment is due now  I thought all our responses were in that were ever gonna come since they were due on the 15th. Well, lo and behold, we got a hugely unexpected yes from some old friends of DH that we both really like. They live in Maryland pretty far from us in Alabama but they are going to be there!!:dance3: We are very excited!

I hope when the time comes that you get some pleasant surprises like this too, Cam

Thank you, Lisa! I am so happy for you that you had such a pleasant surprise and will be able to share your special day with your DH's friends!

Woohoo!!! :woohoo:
The stuff I ordered from minimus.biz came and so did the sewing kits. The "Bear Necessities" bags are now done! They look like this:
47b8da03b3127cceb7b6ea103c3c00000016100Ibt3DRs2cMT

And this is what is in them:
47b8da03b3127cceb7b6d52f7c8400000016100Ibt3DRs2cMT

The plastic bags I put the stuff in wasn't as big as I'd expected, so a lot of other items will go loose in the welcome bag, instead of in the small BN bag.

I now have four boxes packed to take to WDW in less than two weeks  to be stored in our owner's locker:
the wine bottle stoppers which are now tagged
the bear necessities bags
the crystal pens (tagged & labeled) for the dessert party
the glass vase, beads & organza ribbon to create the holder for programs
the pink & red glitter chinese takeout containers w/candles & matches

This stuff fills an entire suitcase! That is one less suitcase of VR stuff to take down in January. :yay:

One less is always better when traveling! Good for you! Have a wonderful trip and enjoy!

I love those Bear Necessities bags, that's such a cute idea (keeping it in the back of my head with a lot of other things I learned on the DIS boards for my VR, not for awhile though). When do you leave for the Minnie? Are you racing in it too or just supporting it? I can't remember what you said and can't seem to find the post regarding it.

Laura

Aww I love the bear necessities bags. You've got some great things in there! Your guests are going to love them :goodvibes

Thank you, disneyfour & Laura & Catherine! I am glad you like the bags. I got the ideas from so many other DIS brides and I am so grateful when people share their ideas and pictures! :grouphug:

Laura-- I am leaving next Friday morning, 5/2, and will do the 15k on Sunday morning. It is a fabulous weekend, with 7 of us who have become very close through the DIS WISH board, all sharing a villa at Old Key West. We have so many fun things planned including a dinner at Boma, breakfast at Olivia's, going to EPCOT to check out the topiaries & gardens, a HUGE WISH team meet, dinner at Boatwright's, spa time at Saratoga Springs, tea at the Grand Floridian, Sunday night at Jellyrolls, breakfast Monday morning, and possibly some outlet shopping. It will be a blast, though not at all relaxing. ;) Oh, and several friends and I are going to check out the proposed location for our WISHES! dessert party, to see the fireworks view, figure out if we can hear any of the music from there, and also to see if the electric water pageant goes by that location. I am getting SOOOO excited about my girls' weekend away! Work has been hellish since late January, so it will be awesome to decompress with lots of great friends and to bring back the last-ever Minnie 15k BLING! :cool1:
