Cam anyone tell me about Concierge level?

Hi!

Just back from AKL deluxe pool view room (2/8 -2/16) and am starting to think about a trip in 2005. I know that is far off, but then my kids will be 4.75, 6 and 9 (thereby being able to ride everything that has minimum 40 inches)... no baby swap (only chicken out!!). Right now, it was bothersome since they are 1, 3 and 5 and the three year old didn't make 40 inches!! So only one could ride...

We will probably go back before then, maybe 6/2003 and stay at a moderate, but I would really like to go back to AKL in 2005.

Here is my question (finally), what service does the concierge level provide other than a lounge and drinks/food? Will they make PS? like at CRT (which I couldn't for the life of me get this past trip )... Can someone tell me why it is worth the extra $$ to stay on that level?

Thanks!! Also, in 2005, all my kids could go to Simba's Kid place and my dh and I can enjoy BOMA's again (we loved that place!! breakfast and dinner (especially the Tuesday menu!).

Sorry, I can't help you, but- THANKS for asking that question. I've been wondering the same thing myself- especially about AKL. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of answers there are out ther!

They do make your reservations, but they don't guarantee CRT.

If you stay concierge at AKL you can also do the Sunrise Safari, IMHO not really good for kids under about 4-5.

The breakfast at AKL is more than enough, so that saves money, and depending on how much your kids eat, it could easily pay for itself.

I can't ever see myself "paying" for "snacks and sandwhiches" and a "lounge" to sit in when there's all the restaurants in the world at the WORLD to choose from. And for a couple reservations being made on my behalf when my fingers work just fine. And mind you, we are a 6 figure income family and always splurge on nice vacations (i.e., cruises, disney etc.,) but we draw the line at being "wasteful" with our money.

I guess it depends on the cost difference. I love being able to get breakfast BEFORE leaving the hotel, as it saves time that could better be spent in the parks. On the other hand, will you actually be hanging around the hotel in the evenings to take advantage of the hor'deovres, etc.? If you will be out and about in the parks, you may not even be around to enjoy the extras on the club level. Think about how much you will use it and whether it is worth the extra money.

We spend quite a bit of time at our resort when we go to WDW. In fact we can have entire days that we never leave the resort, so resort amenities are extremely important to us.

As far as the lounge, I drink a lot of tea, and enjoy being able to have hot teat available to me all day long. We have found that we spend at least $40 a day for breakfast when we eat at a restaurant. So by the time you factor in that, plus soft drinks and bottled water, wine and hor duovores, etc., a discounted concierge room can pay for itself.

I agree that if you are a out the door at 8:00am and not back until midnight every day vacationer, than you likely won't see much benefit from concierge service. But if you tend to take it much more slowly and will be spending time at your resort, it's something you might want to consider.
