Calls from Disney to relocate from All Star Music this Fall?

Seeing here that All Star Music guests are getting calls from Disney to upgrade their Sept./Oct. booking from Music to AoA or CBR. Assuming this has to do with the rumor that the renovations won't be done until Dec. Would love it to be CBR, not sure you'd be getting a choice if they do call you.

We're double booked for early Nov., we paid for the 1 day to reserve from Disney and also have the week paid through Orbitz at a small discount. We were going to wait a little while to see if we could upgrade to AP and get a discount for the Disney booking. Should we cancel the WDW booking in hopes of a call from Disney, since Orbitz booking is cheaper? Or because Orbitz is 3rd party, Disney can't do anything with it until 10 days prior, so we should cancel the Orbitz one. If we wait until close to our date, maybe we find out that we won't even be getting a call to change reservations. But I don't want to not know which one I can cancel if I do get moved and still have both reservations.

I would hold both until closer to your date or the cancel by deadline. They seem to be calling people fairly in advance. Do you have them both connected to your Disney account? If they do ask you to change, whichever one they upgrade should show in your account when they make the change. The reservation number connected to the other one would be the one to cancel.

If you are still nervous and definitely wanting to cancel one, I would cancel the Orbitz one if the discount is not substantial.

Thanks for the reply. The disney reservation is the one linked. Not sure whether we could link the orbitz one instead. I would think so.

The discount is maybe 20%. that’s maybe like $30 per day x 6 = $180 if I recall right.

I was going to cancel the Disney one when I read about the upgrades today, purely for the savings. But I remembered having an orbitz reservation few years ago where I couldn’t request Disney to do a continuous stay between an official disney booking at Pop and an add on day booked via Orbitz (no other availability) until something like 7-10 days before arrival date. The CM had said that 3rd party bookings don’t get a disney reservation number until close to arrival. Made me think that if I kept the Orbitz reservation, disney might have trouble changing it. Not sure I’m remembering that situation correctly, since it’s been a while.

Not quite. Since the booking is owned by Orbitz (travel agent) only Disney wholesale reps can tell you the Disney reservation number. Disney will notify Orbitz if they move your reservation.

It is then Orbitz job to contact you since they are your travel agent. In this situation it would be best to keep the Disney reservation.

Thanks Dave. Do you think you’d also keep the Orbitz as well, just in case I don’t get called to relocate, and then cancel Orbitz if relocated by Disney? Or some sort of harm by not canceling Orbitz now.

I’ve definitely linked Priceline and Orbitz reservations before. Usually, I have been able to within a few days of booking the reservation once it has been accepted in Disney’s system.

As long as you abide by the cancellation policy, there shouldn’t be any reason why you cannot keep your Orbitz reservation in addition to the Disney one for now. I would keep it in case Disney does not upgrade you, but it’s ultimately up to you. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks, it sounds like I should keep both reservations and try to link my Orbitz reservation. Would I keep both reservations linked or try to unlink the Disney reservation? Sorry, not used to trying to change a reservation.
