Being a born and bred New Englander, it is MY GREAT HONOR to love the PATRIOTS.
Both Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick can currently do no wrong, so their drafting of tackle Vince Wilfork is no doubt part of the master plan. Besides, we did lose Ted Washington. Here's what Sports Illustrated had to say about this pick...which they counted as one of their draft "winners":
"New England Patriots -- The Pats coming away with Miami defensive tackle Vince Wilfork at No. 21 is the NFL equivalent of the Bush tax breaks for the richest Americans. It just doesn't seem fair. Wilfork is a potential dominating inside force who was projected to go as high as No. 8 to Atlanta. The Pats were actually attempting to trade up a few notches for falling Ohio State defensive end Will Smith, but they failed for a change, and wound up having Wilfork fall into their laps. Good luck can be a byproduct of good preparation. Whatever the case, the Patriots just found Ted Washington's replacement, about a month after the behemoth run-stuffer fled for Oakland in free agency."
YAY!
One of the most interesting developments in the offseason in the increased disgruntlement of Ty Law, who is no doubt a superstar, but whose whining has fallen on deaf ears. He can thank Lawyer Milloy for that....people were out for blood at the Milloy situation, and look what it turned into. Now public opinion is always on Belichick's side.
I can't wait for the season to begin....not only to watch my Pats, but since I'm currently stuck in the DC area, watching Joe Gibbs return will be all kinds of interesting too. Bring on September!
