Calling on All Football Fanatics!!

Being a born and bred New Englander, it is MY GREAT HONOR to love the PATRIOTS.

Both Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick can currently do no wrong, so their drafting of tackle Vince Wilfork is no doubt part of the master plan. Besides, we did lose Ted Washington. Here's what Sports Illustrated had to say about this pick...which they counted as one of their draft "winners":

"New England Patriots -- The Pats coming away with Miami defensive tackle Vince Wilfork at No. 21 is the NFL equivalent of the Bush tax breaks for the richest Americans. It just doesn't seem fair. Wilfork is a potential dominating inside force who was projected to go as high as No. 8 to Atlanta. The Pats were actually attempting to trade up a few notches for falling Ohio State defensive end Will Smith, but they failed for a change, and wound up having Wilfork fall into their laps. Good luck can be a byproduct of good preparation. Whatever the case, the Patriots just found Ted Washington's replacement, about a month after the behemoth run-stuffer fled for Oakland in free agency."

YAY!

One of the most interesting developments in the offseason in the increased disgruntlement of Ty Law, who is no doubt a superstar, but whose whining has fallen on deaf ears. He can thank Lawyer Milloy for that....people were out for blood at the Milloy situation, and look what it turned into. Now public opinion is always on Belichick's side.

I can't wait for the season to begin....not only to watch my Pats, but since I'm currently stuck in the DC area, watching Joe Gibbs return will be all kinds of interesting too. Bring on September!

I love football. I used to be a Raiders fan when a friend from high school's brother played for them. Guess I'll be a Raiders fan again now that Robert Gallery was picked by them as the 2nd pick in the draft!! WOO-HOOO!!!
I also like to watch any teams with former Iowa Hawkeyes. I cheer for any team playing against the Vikes. Can't stand 'em.

Big Ben R , Go Steelers, We have been waiting for a qb since Terry Bradshaw.

New England Patriots fan here and we all know how well they did last season!! Sorry to see big Ted go, but looks like we might have done okay with the draft. Now if only Ty Law would stop whining about his $8 million dollar yearly salary and drop Carl Poston as his agent, I'd be very happy.

I'm looking forward to sitting around on Sunday morning and doing game picks with my DH and the Boston Globe. August 13th, our pre-season action begins! :cheer2:

No kidding! You'd think Ty would have learned with the Lawyer Milloy situation, but no! His contract isn't even up for renewal....he just wants an extension and he wants to be the highest paid cornerback in the NFL...it's totally a bragging rights thing. Never mind that at the time of the signing of his current contract, he WAS the highest paid. He wants a pay update!

So refreshing to see his whining is falling on deaf ears. I love Ty, but seriously!

Eagles!!! As far as the draft goes ehhh.....not sure what the reasons were behind the Shawn Andrews pick.

I'm following the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Draft-wise, I think they did fairly well. They had 10 picks overall and only two of the picks (that I can see) are questionable.

1st round pick = Reggie Williams: Much needed receiver; a developing go-to guy for the developing Byron Leftwich. We also picked up another receiver in round four by the name of Ernest Wilford. My guess would be that some serious reconstruction in the wide receiver position is about to take place.

We needed a linebacker, a cornerback and a defensive end, and we got all of them but why they waited so long (the 10th and final round) to pick up a defensive end is beyond me.

Questionable picks - yet another place kicker (in round five!) and a special teams pass-rushing specialist (in round three!!!)

Not sure what's going on there but I do know there are 89 players on the roster...someone's got to go!

I am just a "sports widow" in my house, but since my dh and my ds LOVE sports, I had to either beat them or join them, so I joined them. We are huge Cubbies fans, just as an FYI, and our football team is the Steelers!!
Not having watched too much of the draft I can't give an informed opinion, but I will say that I hope the new QB will help the Steelers on their way to the Superbowl. I also think Tommy Maddox had better play his heart out this season since it might be his last. I just keep thinking that Jon Elway was "old" by football standards when he finally won his Superbowl ring, so the same could be true for Maddox.
Also, my dh gets the NFL Sunday Ticket so we get to watch the Steelers every week and we love that!!

Also, my dh gets the NFL Sunday Ticket

We have Comcast cable and I think that this is going to be available to us for the 2004 season. I hope it is, I hope it is.....

Can't wait for college football season to begin. I think Alabama can pull out a few more games this year and look respectable. Coach Shula is going to do a great job if they will just leave him along to do his job. My DH married my for my alumni status so he could get tickets.

Roll Tide!!!!!

I enjoyed OU/ Bama exchange the last few seasons I hope we can match up again in the future. It was great seeing the sportsmanship on the field and in the stands.

PATS !!! PATS!!! PATS!!!

Heard Tom Brady was interviewing in Italy for highest MVP postion! POPE!!!

Know what the "NE" on the front of the Patriots Coaches Caps stands for ? NEVER EASY!!!

As long as Yoda keeps wearing that dull gray hooded Nantucket sweatshirt on the side lines the streak goes on!!!

Since the Giants have officially let Kerry Collins go today, which team(s), do you think, are in need of a veteran starter.

It won't be the Jags because:

(1) The Jags can't afford him

and

(2) For some reason, the Jags have just acquired the services of the Falcons backup QB from last year, Doug Johnson (I believe that's his name). Falcon fans will remember him when Vick was out and Johnson stepped in and lost all but one game he started!! Now, the Jacksonville Jaguars have him!!! :bounce:

Anyway, I think a team that could really use a good QB is Miami.

Any other thoughts?
