Hi everyone,

Wondering how you guys go about calling home from Disney, or recieving calls. Am I better off calling my parents with my cell phone? (I'm from Newfoundland) Should i get my parents to call me on the hotel line? Do you pay for incoming calls? Sorry I really have no clue how expensive calls are and connection fees and things like that. My parents have a discount plan for calling to the US so I know it's better for them to call. Any help at all would be great! Only 25 days to go

We bought an International Calling Card from Walgreens for $10 US and got 2 1/2 hours of talk time on it back home to Canada.

Never use your cell phone in the US....extremely high roaming charges!!!! If you have Bell, you could pay $40 and switch your plan for the month so you could use it in the US. I go to Wal-Mart and buy a prepaid phone card...works get (you call a 1-800 number, type in a PIN from the back of the card and then the number...easy as pie). I usually have my family call me at the resort - I don't think there is a charge at WDW). But never use your cell phone..the roam charges are horrible! Have a great time...you are so lucky!

Anyone know about texting? Like how much it would be for me to text home? Or for them to send me a text. RIght now I pay like 12 cents a text out and nothing in. Just a thought, if I could text them and say call me back. Or would it not cost much for the one minute call to say call me back? :confused3

Buy a President's Choice long distance card. $5 gets you almost 2 hours of talking time. No user fees like the ones you buy in the States. I use them for my home long distance now - 4.3 cents per minute.

OK, thanks!!! But I heard there's a high fee to pay at the resort for calling out. Is it just a one time connection fee or by the minute, or did I hear wrong all together??

Don't use a resort phone, they'll charge you 75 cents. Just use a pay phone at the resort.

So it'll cost me 75 cents every time someone calls me? (Sorry if i sound dense, I'm just trying to make sure I'm not confused)

hi there, we were in WDW in Dec 04....we never called home but my dad called us a number of times...he just phoned the hotel and asked for our room...i wasnt charged anything, and he only paid whatever his charge for calling the US is...i know i am only 7 cents a minute, so i know he didnt pay much...it is the way to go...we leave for DL in 47 days and i will give them the hotel phone number again, and that way i dont have to worry about extra charges....

There is a hotel charge to call out from your hotel room. As previously suggested use a pay phone. Calls to the room are not charged a service fee.

I have an unlimited text message package and pay $10 a month. That is going to be great when I am at WDW in May.
