RORY: I just noticed that you have your name on your posts. I will be glad to bring the article. REMIND ME FOR IT when we are on the ship. My brain leaks.

ESTELLE: Glad you are pleased with the costume. I sure am curious. And no, my toes are not talented enough to knit, but they are learning how to look classy in nail polish. A new wrinkle for an old lady.

Jan :earsgirl:

I got out my formal wear yesterday, tried it on and it fit. Yahoo!!! Now just a few more lbs. off for that comfort zone.

Emma Lord of the Rings has been playing on our cable all week. Boy, it has some pretty gross scenes.

I bought little Halloween foam kits for Ashley and I to work on while driving to Fl. I can't wait, we're getting so excited.

Now, if the plans for construction on our old house would come together my life would be complete. Just can't get it off the drawing table.

I've been looking into renting an electric car while at Key West for a little self touring. They look so fun.

I found some Halloween jokes to share.

Key West Cruisers

Ginger - Electric cars sound fun. I tried your link but it didn't work for me. The Halloween jokes were very funny. I shared some of the ones that were on a five year old's level with Emily, she thought they were funny. I'm sure she will telling them for the next few months.

Got an E-mail from Nicole last night, so a few more children will be trick or treating with us. After I finish catching up on the Disney posts this morning I will be working on the T or T. I will publish an updated T or T count this afternoon. Anyone else who wishes to participate as either a room to stop at on our travels , or if you have children who wish to participate in the T or T please post comments on this thread or PM either "Masonpipes" (Debby), "Ginger" or "NJFamily" (Lynne).

Debby - Great news on the new house. Good Luck selling the old one.

We sold our house here! This has been such a great week - I am so excited! They want to close right at the same time that we do, so it's working out perfectly!

Lynn, we're changing rooms. Since we sold the house, I went for the upgrade and moved us to a Category 6 (hello verandah!). It's on guarantee status right now so I won't get our new assigment until our docs arrive - if that messes up your T or T stuff, we can write in our room as the last one (or the first one) once we know it.

Off to try on the kid's winter coats and buy some fall clothing!

Debby - Excellent news on the sale of your house. My DH and his family are involved in the real estate business; I have heard many stories where things don't go that smooth! Great news on the verandah. Don't worry about not having a room assignment yet for the T or T, I will not print off the final sign's until the weekend before we leave. I am more concerned about getting the number of T or T 'ers down so that everyone know how many kids will be coming to their door and they can buy the appropriate amount of treats. If your doc's arrive a few weeks before, it should be no problem. I will also have a few extra signs so we can handle room changes that happen at the dock, maybe someone will get lucky and get a last minute upgrade!

Anyone else taking a day off before you leave on vacation? I just changed my vacation plans at work.:D I am taking off the day before we leave as a packing and pampering day! :D I have never done this before, and I am thrilled at the though of actually having a whole day dedicated to getting ready for the vacation. DMiL and I are even making reservations to get a manicure and pedicure together on that day.

Lynne

DEBBY Congrats on your house! It's always a nice blessing when things work out so perfectly!

I still have not got my DD costume yet. She wants to get the spy kids one, but I am having a hard time finding it in stock on line. I think I may just wait until the holiday gets a little closer and check for it in the stores.

I finally got my T-Shirts from Ray.:D I love them!!! Is anyone going to be wearing their shirts for sail away?

As far as formal wear goes, I bought two prom dresses at Dillards in July, and paid under $30.00 for each. They are georgeous. I have never owned such beautiful dresses. I can't wait to wear them.

I also have to brag about my DS Brendan who is in the 7th grade. We got a letter from his school with an enclosed letter from Duke university. It informed us that my son scored in the 99th percentile on his FCAT math last year and he has been chosen to take the SAT test this December!! We are so proud of him and excited for him1111:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Well, thats all the news for now, everyone have a great day.

Dena:earsgirl:

I think I have the electric car site working now. Thanks Lynne

Hey that's great news Debby.

Congrats Dena.

DENA: Congratulations to you and your son! I was chosen to take the SAT last year. My parents didn't turn in the form on time so I didn't take it, but I had friends who did. You should ask your son to ask his math teacher for extra help after school. The math section is really hard. And get him a couple of Vocab books too! I wish him lots and LOTS of luck!!!

Congratulations Debby and Dena on your great news.

I also have the day off before we leave on vacation to pack and get the apartment ready for my brother and sister to stay here while we are gone. One of our cats is insulin diabetic and needs shots twice a day. My brother and sister will alternate staying here to give her her medications. She also gets heart medication once a day. She's 15 years old and doesn't mind the shots at all. Patty :earsgirl:

For anyone keeping track we now have 19 T or T particpants and 15 rooms to stop at on our route.

Dena: Excellent news on DS. Wow what a deal you got on your gowns. I got a good deal, but not that good. Also, the dress needs some alterations that I am not capable of making so I will have to find someone to do them for me. In the end I'm afraid the alterations will cost more than the dress. (I have no idea what alterations cost, but I guess I'm about to find out.) I for one am very excited about having the chance to wear a formal gown, it has been a long, long time since I wore one.

Patty - the day off will be wonderful. I'm glad to be in the position this year to have enough vacation left to be able to do it. How nice of your siblings to help take care of your cats while you are on vacation.

Ginger - I checked out the Electric cars, they look a great way to tour the island by yourself. I sent an E-mail to the owners to see if they can fit them with car seats for DD and DS.

Lynne

Congratulations Debbie and Dena. How wonderful for both of you.
Patty I understand all about your cat. We have 4 and the oldest is working on being 15 she's about 14 and a half. Luckily she doesn't have any major medical problems. She does have some problems with her teeth, most of them are missing at this point. I managed to solve that by adding warm water to her food. It seems to work and she still has a good appetite. The other three are younger although none of them are exactly young.
I haven't done any trying on of the clothes I expect to take and maybe I should. I have a friend who sews and is at present hemming 7 pairs of pants I bought in Maine. Plan to bring several of them. I have also asked her to make me a formal and she agreed. So I should have that covered. Hope so.
Lynne, too bad you aren't closer to Pa. Alterations can be a real pricey pain.
I have dog again this evening so I am off to put her out and into sleep mode. Estelle

Estelle, I am in PA a lot. I take 78 to see my parents who live outside of Reading, in Sinking Spring on a regular basis. I even have a brother who was born in ABE area. Would your friend be interested in doing some alterations for me, and does she have time? I 'ld rather use someone that was recommend to me then try the tailor at the local dry cleaner. I'm not sure how complicated the alterations would be. I could stop by on way out to do some fall shopping out the Reading outlets and then I could make another trip to pick up a few weeks later. Let me know. Although I'm sure it is to short notice now, DMiL, DSiL and I are making a trip to Langhorne PA tomorrow for a Bridal Shower.

Lynne

Estelle - Yes, we gotta give our senior cats extra love and attention. We actually have 5 cats. The youngest is going to be 2 in a couple months. Three of them were homeless rescued by my sister and one was rescued from a home where he was neglected. We pamper them like crazy. Patty:earsgirl:

Lord of the rings, gross? No way! Haha, I may be slightly biased though.

Tink-Of course I know about September 11th, I dont live on another planet. Sorry if that sounds harsh but I keep finding that Americans my age think that the world is still in the stone age once you leave to US. One time I got asked if we have TV over here! Narrowminded people is just one thing I can't stand (and we have our fair share of them here too, believe me!) Also, I kinda know wat you mean about unsociable hours. Choir used to be on Tuesday lunch, Tuseday after school, Thursday after school untill 5:30pm, Friday lunch and Saturday mornings. And I know that if Im in the production again Ill spend most of my time at school for 3months. I dont mind though because it's all things that I love and couldnt be without.

We have 7 cats, they're all under 3 years old and siamese/orientals. We show them quite a lot, or some of them anyway. Actually, I used to have a horse on loan but I had to give her back cos I was pretty much trerrified of her and it was so expensive for me just to keep her in her stable and her field.

EMMA: Don't worry, it doesn't sound harsh! I only put that in because some kids in my class forget what day it was and everything. I couldn't believe it. I remember on September 12th how at noon the entire[B/] world stood still. Believe me I know this isn't the stone age. I can't believe people didn't think that you had televisions! England is one of my favorite countries, but my parents haven't taken me there yet!!!

SEVEN ctas? Wow! My parents are allergic to cats and dogs. WE have two guinea pigs. They are probably the most annoying animal in the world. All they do is squeek! We had two, and the pet shop told us they were both female, but then four months later we had a third. She was so tiny when she was a baby, but now she squeeks like heck!

We lost our basketball game, 20-38. Ouch.

Okay Emma, I can actually go one better than tv in England. My husband, kids and I were at a wedding in Chinatown New York City some years ago. I went to the ladies room and a little girl about 8 asked me where I was from. I told her Pennsylvania and she asked me if we still had Indians raiding the farms. I was so stunned that all I could get out was a firm No. We do have a few Indians.
Jan-the wedding was George Chins.
Our 4th cat was a rescue cat. Eldest DD works at a day care center and some one dropped off a pregnant cat near the center. Of course the girls at the center (employees) immediately started feeding her. Then she had 5 kittens. Then she moved them into a sink hole immediately before a forecasted major rain storm. So before it hit DD and a couple of friends snagged them out of the sink hole and put them in a detached garage. There they stayed fed, cared for, and vet checked for 8 weeks. When they were old enough the kittens had ready homes. We almost had to have a lottery to get all of them to new homes. We got the mother.
Lynne I will check with my friend. It might have to be the beginning of October because she is going away for most of this month. I'll let you know as soon as I know.
Laundry is calling and DH needs the computer. Estelle

We only have 1 cat, just a regular black and white male. He is about 9 years old. I used to have a siamese, but we had to put her to sleep two years ago. We also have a miniature dashound who just turned a year this July. What a great dog she is. And we also have two ferrets. The are ALOT of work!!!!!

Take a day or two to knit gifts for a baby shower and you guys add a lot to the board! Wow, a lot has happened.

We are wearing our Cruise shirts from Ray--purple--and the green leis and flags and I will have the purple, black and LIME GREEN curly ribbon bunch from Hallmark in my hair for the sail away and for our boarding the ship picrture. Wish I could get my cruise mug before the picture is taken too but I don't know how to pull that off.

DENA: Congrats to your son on his opportunity to take the SATs. That will open some nice doors for him.

DEBBY: Congrats on the house switching!! Sounds good. Hard to imagine being on a trip with closings to look forward to when you get home. We think we would be nervous about things going wrong while we were out of touch with the realtors.
Congrats on being able to upgrade to the veranda room!!

GINGER: The Halloween joke pages are funny. I sent the addresses to a couple friends. Thanks for the info on the electric cars. I wonder if that is new, I have not seen them the other times we were in Key West.

RORY and I had a private e-mail conversation when I realized that the article about the forensic entomologist was available on a website. It just occurred to me that someone else might be interested in the website as she was. Using the website gave her an article to take in this week. And, while it is a bit gory, it shows that there is good science helping our dectectives solve crimes.
Go to:

and the bug guy is front and center right now.

If you click on the MORE at the bottom of his lead-in you get to this address:

which gives you the whole article.

PATTY: Wow--what a neat cat that must be and what a lucky one to have such dedicated people. Can you bring a picture of the cats?? We, like ESTELLE and PHIL, are cat people, (but they have a dog too...) We lost our last cat a couple years ago to a lung tumor. We lost one in 1977 to feline leukemia--just as the shot was being developed. We had some strays who adopted us besides.

I will have patients to see on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so will not have a day off before the trip. But we will be driving down in our little motorhome Thursday and Friday so that will be kind of like having some time off. Does that count?

ESTELLE: I was reading the posts and answering as I went along and had typed in the story about the kids at George's wedding when I got to your post and to erase a whole paragraph since you told the story already and did a better job than I.
