Calling Halloween Cruisers!

Shoot!! I had a nice post ready to go and since I took too long writing it, I was not signed in any more so now it is lost.

From memory now:

:) :Pinkbounc TWO MONTHS !! :Pinkbounc :)

SUZANNE: Welcome home. Hope you had a nice trip.

GINGER: Happy celebration! Will you bring the earrings to show off?

EMMA: How about Esmerelda as a Halloween costume? Bring a long skirt you already have, a peasant blouse, a scarf or sarong for a sash, sandles and lots of gold jewelry. Do you have long hair or can you get a wig? Jewelry in the hair too. I had planned a costume made of pieces of other outfits that I was going to wear on the ship so I did not have extra to pack, but we may do something different now. Not sure.
Where did you get the ROSE_GREENTHUMB name?

ESTELLE: Registering for excursions before the cruise is new to us so I am no help. We should be able to do it 60 days out so that would be Aug 26 or 27. Can't we FAX it? Isn't that on there somewhere?

DENA: Are you and Ashley in the same building? How did it go for her today?

KAREN: Is there supposed to be music at the Key West Aquarium site? We have no plans for camping now as we were not sure when the motorhome would be done. We take DS#2 back to college Sept 1 so may go camping in September at our timeshare in Illinois. Or we may take a long weekend and go see my Mother in upstate NY and camp in her driveway. (We lost my Dad November of 2000 so try to get over to see her a couple times a year.) We are driving it down to Florida in October and will camp at FORT WILDERNESS for a week after THE CRUISE. Tom said that since our other two motorhomes had been to FW, this one would feel left out if it did not get to go. :)
;) I am not complaining. ;)

DEBBY: Best wishes on the meeting in OK about the job and the house hunting! Keep us posted. :)

On the Cozumel site: http://www.cozumelonline.com/
under shopping it says
"If you shop carefully, you'll discover that prices on jewelry fashioned with Mexican silver and turquoise are exceptionally good. When buying sterling silver, always make sure you see "925" stamped on the item. Gold items, should be stamped with a set of two numbers and two letters (in any combination). "

I got Belle when I signed up, even though I did not list reading as my hobby.

Ok, another long overdue post!

I feel like I really know noone except Ginger, Ray and Tony. I am also not prepared at all, we are going to WDW for a week with my mom and grandma September 13-21. So that trip has taken priority over the planning of this trip. I apologize for this!

Deck Party- We will need 3 leis, not sure if I have said that or not. Also we will purchase small american flags for everyone as we need this last year and it was very fun!

Excursions-the only one we have planned on is the Jeep Safari at Cozumel. Also I would like to rent a jet ski at Key West (anyone have any info on this?)

Palos Brunch- Ginger we are not sure about this one! We have done dinner there and let me just say it is beautiful but we are meat and potatoes kind of people! LOL So any insight on this would be great!

Tshirts-have yet to order, have emailed Ray and he advised me to hurry it up, LOL. But what color to get?

Ok anything else I should know?

Dan

DAN: Do you have the cruise list that Debby and Lynn put together? If not, I can e-mail it to you. That helps with knowing who people are. You will recognize us by the "quality" avatar in our posts (see left). The photo was taken last June at the wedding, in England, of our niece to a British fellow--we clean up good.

What would we owe you for the flags?

We have a good shot at Shirley and Norm from The Perfect Gift being at the GRILL and taking our picture as we cruise out the channel so I vote we stand on Deck 10 Starboard in a group and wave so we get a good picture for Shirley to post on the boards or e-mail to us or something for our scrapbooks.

So far people are ordering shirts in their favorite colors or something they like or not at all as a cost cutting measure. There is no obligation. Pick what you like. Let your Mom decide and just match her. whatever.

We agree with you on Palos, but we are meat and veggie people so do not think we will sign up for Palos. No one is obligated to do anything with the group. It is just fun to plan with others and have some friendly faces on the ship.

We will have a meet October 25 at the Radisson--time still under discussion as far as I know. When you had a food sharing on your last cruise, when and where did you do it?

Jan :earsgirl:

Thanks Jan!

Yes we have the cruise list! The flags are not that expensive and we will purchase them for all. Does anyone have a count?

Radisson the night before the cruise? Not sure about that either LOL we have a room booked but just got a postcard for the Animal Kingdom Lodge for $119. So we are now undecided.

Dan

Dan for some reason my mind is blank right now on what is served for Brunch at Palo. There is a great selection of wonderful food. I am sure you'll find some to please your plain old taste buds. LOL

:p I'll check on Barb site to see if she has a brunch menu to refresh my old memory. I'll get back to you.

Karen, no problem with my hair I'll shave it off. I wear it very short anyway. Now what color would go best with them???? LOL;)

GINGER: ANY COLOR GOES WELL WITH DIAMONDS. That is what is so amazing about them. They go with EVERYTHING. Even jeans.

DAN: That is a toughy--AK or Radisson--hmmmm.........

I would just count the people on the cruise list for a flag count. I just got 76. That is a LOT of flags for you to buy. Someone said that she thinks more people will show up on the DIS as we get closer to departure. If you have too few flags, families can share. If you have too many you can save them for another cruise or pass them out to other cruisers.

When did you have the food party? When did you give people the postcards from your home location?

See you in October.

Jan :earsgirl:

Dan you won't have to count in 3 for us we have our saved from last year that we can use. Thank You anyway.

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND!!
Sounds like a great song title, oh wait its been done. Anyway congratulations.
Jan if the meal at Palos is a brunch they probably have fairly plain old food as well as the fancy stuff.
Still working on the Halloween costume. Know what I want and how to do it. Just a bit concerned about the eventual cost. If it costs as much as I think it might I may be wearing the same costume well into my 80s.
I finally decided that the wreath and Beanie Babies for the door of the state room won't work. I just can't take the entire world in my suitcase.
I don't know if there is a fax number for the reservations but that might be easier than the telephone.
Ah the sound of the whining dog (owner in Key West). So I am off to make her happy and then the cats. Estelle

I found a site that will give some idea of the brunch served. I love the Garlic Roasted Tenderloin which came with a potato side dish, the pizzas, smoked salmon, the fresh bakery goods and the best desserts. I hope you all will find something to tempt you. Remember most of these items are self served. Palo Brunch selection.

JAN: No Ashley is not at the same school as me, I work in an elementary school which only goes up to the 5th grade and DD is in the Middle school (6th - 8th grade). My 12 year old DS is in the 7th grade at the same school as my daughter. She did much better today. She was happy she could get her locker open by herself. Thanks for asking.:) :)

GINGER Tell me again what day you plan on doing brunch at palos? I am not sure yet if we will go, but I'll let you know.

DAN: Count us in for the flags there are 4 of us.:) Just to let you know, we ordered the white tee shirts from Ray.

Dena:earsgirl:

Karen - I hope you didn't purchase tickets yet for the Halloween Party at WDW for Nov. 1. We arrive back from the cruise on Nov. 2. The other dates before we cruise are Oct. 17, 20 & 25. I know others are going before the cruise. Unfortunately we won't be going this time.

Emma- I'm Ariel.

Ginger - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: What a Perfect day you had today! I love lobster & diamonds too. Diamonds are my birthstone.

Today my DH and I paid off our cruise at our TA. We did get our excursion papers and pamphlets. The fax is 1-407-566-7031. The email address is dcl.shore.excursions@disney.com. I think I'll try calling them directly. I'm not sure what time to call but I'll start trying early in the morning on the 60th day before.
After leaving AAA I reviewed our paperwork from the TA and noticed the confirmation from DCL had a different stateroom number than the AAA 's paperwork. We tried calling our TA and got her voicemail. She didn't call back so I'll have to call her back tomorrow. Unfortunately the new room isn't an upgrade. The new room is nextdoor to our old room. I told my DH wouldn't it be neat if we had two rooms booked for the price of one. If our room number has changed I'll report as soon as I find out. Patty:earsgirl:

We have a board full of disney princesses! The name Rose_greenthumb was what my hobbit name came up as on a name generator thing.

Patty - WHEW! OHMAGOSH That was close. I TOTALLY thought the 1st was good for us. I reached DH before he bought them. Yikes. So....we might go the 25th, but then we would miss the big bash at the RAD. WHat a tough decision.

Rose - I want the hobbit name locator!!!! I am still in a big quandry about this. DO I buy the LOTR DVD now? DO I wait for the four disk set in Nov, even though the set now and the Nov set do not have any overlapping material? Do I hold out on all of it and wait for the 18 disk boxed set after all three are out?

I really enjoyed the Bond Girl name locator when that was around. I am Uda Kissder. :)

Here's our Palo's story. We had brunch by ourselves and dinner with my in-laws at Palos. At brunch, we had Salvatore as our server. Turns out he is from the next town over in Sicily from where my inlaws are from. (Inlaws came over on "the boat" through Ellis Island and all that) So, at brunch, he and my DH spent the whole time talking and telling jokes in Sicilian. Then when we brought my inlaws to dinner, they all spent the whole time talking to each other about their hometowns and people they all knew. We had a blast!!!! They had the best time with him.

All of this to say, that the food in Palos is Northern Italian fare. You can get steak (filet) or chicken. But it may definitely be a little more fru-fru than your standard Olive Garden. :) I am sure that Barb & Tony have a menu on their site.

Diamonds are my birthstone too!!! (Well not really. But if I say it enough times, DH might just believe it. He sure as heck ain't reading the little plastic cards from Hallmark that tell you what goes with what birthday!)

Emma I was Jasmine.

Brunch date: Monday Oct 28, 11:-11:30 am.

Thank You Patty, I thougth so.

We had Salvatore on our last cruise he was great. I couldn't find a brunch menu on Barbs site. I found the one I posted on Debs site.

GINGER thanks for the brunch date. I still need to convince hubby to go. He is wanting to do that on Thursday.

EMMA: I am Ariel:)

KAREN: I am a big fan of Lord of the Rings and I had pre ordered the boxed set for November. Then a week before the LOTR came out, a new blockbuster video opened just down the street from us. They were offering this deal that if you bought a 10 dvd rental card for $24.99 you would get a free dvd of LOTR. I couldn't pass it up.:) Now I just noticed they are offering the same rental card again and you get monsters inc. for free when that comes out. Another great deal I can't pass up:)

Dena:earsgirl:

Dena - Sorry I couldn't write back right away...I was on my way to Blockbuster! I wasn't really, but will be tomorrow! THanks for the tips!

Em - what a good idea about buying the one now AND later!

That way I can watch Legolas over and over in the privacy of my own home without it costing me a fortune in Blockbuster rentals or late fees! ;)

I love these name generators....

Middle Earth name : Hideous Beorning (okay, I feel like I got jipped on this one...)

Elf: Iaurnariel, or Iaurnarien, or Iaurnarwen (I can live with this. It sounds prettier than Hideous. Legolas and Iaurnarwen sittin in a tree....)

Hobbit: Robin from the North Moors

Ork: Ashluk the Strongclaw (Strangely enough, I can live with this one too. Makes me sound tough!)

Closing in on the 60 day mark!!!

If I were a dwarf my name would be Thráin Bloodmail. The Elvish name sounds very romantic and in the Redbook I was a beautiful troll. (the beautiful part sounds nice, but just how beautiful is a troll anyway?)

Thráin Bloodmail :earsgirl:
