Calling Halloween Cruisers!

If the Lift-off is on November 2, could we see the shuttle from the Radisson parking lot? Depending on what time it lifts off, would it be just as easy to hang out there and avoid the traffic snarl between the port and the Space Center?

I am trying to learn how to put a quote in a posting. I understand that there is a button up there that says QUOTE. When I click on it I get a box, but do I have to TYPE ALL THE WORDS IN THERE MYSELF? Seems like some of you have figured out an easier way. Can you clue me in?

Jan :earsgirl:

It would be nice if it was before we docked. We could all watch from the deck unless of course we were still packing. The parking lot would also be good. I personally have no interest in being in the traffic jam. Maybe that is the way to convince DH to stay at the Radisson the night we get back. Have to run that by him.
Jan the TorT stuff arrived from Oriental Trader yesterday. Haven't opened it yet but will later today. Couldn't get near the computer last night. Both DDs were using it. One for business the other to check her emails (thousands I think).
The weather is still great but unfortunately will be going right back to the 90s' by Sunday. But we will be heading north that day so maybe we'll be cooler. One can dream.
Estelle

You would be able to see the lift off from anywhere up there, even parked on the side of the road. I can see it from my house once it is above the trees and I live an hour and 15 minutes from the cape. I just hope that it is sometime in the am. Unfortunately, since the 9/11 events, they wont give out a lift off time until the day before. So we will just have to wait and see.

ESTELLE: DCL encourages you to lay out your clothing for disembarking day (they report people who forget and pack all their clothing and have to leave the ship in the 'jammies or a towel !! :) !!) and your carry-on bag, pack everything else and leave it by the door of your stateroom after midnight with the coded tag they leave in your room the day before. They collect the bags at night, carry them off the ship when they dock, arrange them in the luggage room (under the departure-check-in room) by categories of coded tags so they are ready in the morning. :)

You go to breakfast according to your dinner time--one reason we like late seating--we get to eat a later breakfast and get off the ship after the mad rush is over. Also the luggage room is emptier of luggage so it is easy to spot your pieces. You reclaim them, walk through customs and head to your vehicle. :)

It is a great system. Much nicer that RCCL which had the people called off the ship by luggage tag color, luggage riding on conveyors like at the airport and in separate rooms, so we waited in the wrong color room :( for quite a while until we realized there were other rooms. But they too had us pack the night before.

All this to say--morning launch would not be impacted by packing since all you have to do is put your sleeping clothes in your carry on and put on the day clothes before you hit the diningroom.

DENA: Nice to know that the launch should be visible from wherever we are if it goes on Saturday!! So handy to have a Florida resident on the TEAM! Bet the ship's info desks will be able to find out the time of launch and may even tell us before we ask.

Should we invent a name for ourselves?
Like "Team Halloween."??

Jan :earsgirl:

SUCCESS: My IT Expert--my son--just showed me how to patch in a quote!! I had not thought of right clicking to paste it in!!
Jan :earsgirl:

JAN: You are right about the late dinner seating. We had it not by choice on our second cruise and loved it! Especially for the later breakfast on the last day. So now we only book with the late dinner.:)

As far as the shuttle launch time, we will probably find out from the tv in our staterooms, as they get abc, cbs and i believe cnn.

I like the idea of a name "Team Halloween" is Great!

WooHoo mailed the final payment on our cruise today. Of course we now have to resort to eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the next 2 months but hey who cares!

Its funny but I only get a chance to come in here approx. once or twice a week and it amazes me how much I miss! I think I was behind like 5 pages. I will feel terrible because I havent really had a chance to associate screen names with "real" names so I wont know who is who. The only one I will recognize namewise is NJFamily---our NJ neighbors (and cabin neighbors)! Still can't wait to meet everyone though.

As far as the shuttle launch that would be great if we were able to witness that. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Maureen

I thought our name for the group was "Halloween Cruisers" because of the t-shirts.

With all the talk about traffic jamms I just hope we don't miss our flight home. It leaves at noon. Our flight home is booked solid so if they overbook like airlines do I may have to stay in Orlando for an extra day even if we get there just before noon. If Delta asks us if we would like to take a flight on Sunday and will pay for our hotel stay I think we would take it. Especially if they set us up at the Airport Hyatt.

A few years ago when we were at Universal Studios we saw a launching. We were just coming out of a studio tour and saw people looking up in the sky and pointing. We were surprised to see it from there.

Is everyone participating in the postcard exchange? My husband is going to Niagara Falls today so I told him to pick up some postcards. So far there are about 20 families. BTW, Welcome Sue Ellen! I'm sure you'll get a confirmation. All the catagories are still available but 12. Even if you wanted catagory 12 I'm sure you could get a guanteed stateroom but wouldn't have an assigned room number until a later date. Tell us as soon as you hear from your TA.

Maureen - I've been taking P & J sandwiches to work for lunch for months now and it is definately worth it. Patty

I was just visiting the oriental trading site looking for things to order for the TorT's, but I don't want to order the same things as everyone else. I don't know if you guys listed this already, but could everyone tell me what they have gotten for the kids, so as not to have too many of the same?
Thanks.
Dena:earsgirl:

Darn Jan I have this really lovely little pair of PJs I was planning on wearing and now to find out they won't let me off the boat in them is really a bummer.
Dena if you are willing to send me your email address I can tell you what Jan and I have ordered from Oriental Trader. We have been doing it that way because some of the kids who will be TorTing are more than capable of reading this so to keep it a secret we email about what we are doing. My email is istelle_44@yahoo.com. We are also trying to include candy of some sort that is made in our local areas. But we have at least
one youngster with a peanut allergy and are avoiding nuts.
Are there any launches scheduled before Nov.2nd? The reason I ask is that maybe the crowd would be smaller if there were some before then. Yeah right. And cows fly.
Jan did you put a quote on your post? If you did I didn't get it.
Either of your ideas for the name for the group is alright with me.

Off to work Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. Estelle

Ginger:

I crashed my computer again so I need your e-mail...The good one to put back in my listing

Ray

Like me! Hehe!

I think I remember last time having to get off the boat reeeeeeeelly early cos Im a Brit but I was far too sleepy to remember much about it.

Has anyone else got the lord of the rings dvd? Finally I can watch my favourite film as often as I like having been deprived of it since february! Talk about cruelty to Tolkien fans!

Emma: I am a big fan of Lord of the Rings and yes I just got the DVD yesterday. I read all of the trilogy when I was about your age. We have a theater by us that shows movies for $1.00 and Lord of the Rings has been there since May, so I went to see it two more times since December. I also ordered the special edition dvd which won't be out until November.:D I am hoping it is still playing on the boat when we cruise:Pinkbounc

Dena:earsgirl:

We've ordered the special edition dvd too but there was no way I could have waited that long! I managed to see it 3 times before it disappered from cinemas and I ran outta ppl willing to go with me. Maybe we could go together if its on on the boat, though I must warn you, You might need your raincoat being in the same theatre as me! I cry so much at that film you wouldn't believe.

I was the same way when I saw Lilo & Stitch. I couldn't believe I became so emotional. Leave it to Disney to tug at your heartstrings.
Oh BTW, I finally ordered my t-shirt. YIPPEE!!! Thanks Ray for being so helpful. Patty:earsgirl:

SORRY--I forgot about being HALLOWEEN CRUISERS. Dumb. :(

ESTELLE--you COULD leave the ship in those jammies if you WANT :) And NO, I did not put in a quote--I just was reporting that TED showed me how "right click" gave me a "paste" choice that I did not know about. :)

MAUREEN--The cruise list from DEBBY is the BEST for helping us keep track of each other! I refer to it when someone posts to remind myself of family size and members, etc. :bounce:

We are looking for decent postcards. So far no good pictures that are any different from other parts of the country. :(

EMMA--We have a friend who bought the LORD OF THE RINGS DVD and promised to bring it over for us to watch it. Does that count? I read all the books when I was in college.

RAY--Tom and I have both tried on our shirts and they fit fine!! THANKS! :Pinkbounc

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan: You mentioned a cruise list from Debby, how can I get a copy of it?

Also, I know everyone already posted what staterooms they are going to be in, but without having to spend hours going back through the pages of this thread would you all mind posting them again.:) PLEASE!

EMMA If Lord of the Rings is still playing on the ship, you and I are there!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks to all who e-mailed me info on TorT goodies!

ESTELLE I will send you my email address today. As far as your question about the space shuttle launches, I believe there is a launch going up sometime in september as well.:D
