Calling DVC'ers with kids graduating or have graduated!! Advice/Suggestions for..

I agree with the "Spa" day.......my DD17 ( who graduates next year) and I
love to go together to get mani/pedi's

I will tell you my secret surprise for my DD next year.....
I am a cake decorator, and I will be making her a Mortar Board cake, mabye you could get something like that for her while at a Dinner in the World?

Also, as far as parks, our last trip ( 2 months ago ) we took a day to ourselves........DH and DD9 stayed at the condo and DD17 & I went to epcot, we had a wonderful day and i have the fondest memories of our Mother Daughter day at Epcot ( and lots of photos too )

Love this thread. In January, I am taking DD and some of her friends for her 16th birthday and am also interested in special things to do. I thought the spa thing would be nice and then dinner at the California Grill. But then the Illuminations cruise was suggested and that sounds like a good idea. You have to let us know what you decided on and how it came off.

Both of my DS's have DGF's that are graduating this June. We are all going to WDW to celebrate! We have rented two rooms at All Star and then are moving to two rooms at BCV. Just being in WDW is such a great way to celebrate...parades and fireworks everyday! To those of you who are upset that their kids don't want to go to WDW anymore...let them invite a friend. In our case the friends (or their parents) have paid for a plane ticket and park passes. We have paid for the lodging, meals and any extras. Our kids kept saying that they didn't want to go with us anymore but when offered an option to bring someone along, they enthusiastically said "YES"! It's worth the extra expense and my DH and I have some couple time while they're off on their own.

My oldest has taken a friend with us numerous times. She still doesn't really enjoy her time there. My other 2 DD's have not taken a friend yet but will soon. They still love all the excitement of WDW and get along very well. My oldest is 5 years older than my middle and 7 years older than the youngest.

I agree that there is no better place to be able to celebrate such a milestone.........I guess I just have to pass on it with my first born...........but will thouroughly enjoy it with my other two!! Every child is different and I do enjoy those of you whose graduating high school children still want to spend time with you!!

The SSR spa is a great place and I do plan on doing that one day with my daughters (the one's who want to). It is a great treat!!!

Cirque de Solei
Illuminations Celebration Cruise
salon visits
sleigh ride (not possible this time of year)

I know that during Sam's graduation trip in June 2011, we will sending her on the Segway tour. She is very excited about that. I bet your DD18 would love it! Maybe she could do it with you or DH? Or how about one of the other tours?

My DD is the same way.......she can not wait to break free from us. Little does she know, it is not easy on your own!! LOL!!

As a graduation gift, I am allowing DD and some of her friends 4 days at OKW. They are 18 and pretty good kids. I don't think they will cause any problems (or I would have never have done this). They will all have the dining plan and reservations are all made. Mostly they want to just hang by the pool and sun bathe. They are planning on a day at MK.

Maybe she will see Disney is a different light with her friends. She has been going since she was 6 months old, two sometimes three times a year.

I see these type trips in our future. Originally she was going to bring a friend on this trip...we would get a 2 bedroom lock off and she and friend would stay on that side and then the boys would use the living room sleeper sofa and us the master bedroom. THEN that idea kinda went out the window. She had a falling out in her Jr. year with this girl and they completely parted ways and she said there was NO way she was sharing her love for Disney with said girl LOL . However I do see her going to WDW with a friend or two during the college years. She loves WDW and I don't see her giving up that up. Our trips might not always be together or she might not be able to go for the entire time...but I hope she will still love it in the future as much as she does now.
