Calling all WDW offsite experts! Any areas to avoid?

We have been to Disneyland annually for the past 8 years. This year we are going to give WDW a try. Let me say that right now I am feeling pretty overwhelmed by all the choices.

So far I am feeling quite sure that offsite is the best choice for us. I have been narrowing down a list of pool homes in the surrounding areas. While reading some reviews I have seen a few comments about cars being broken into which got me to wondering.... are there any specific areas that I should avoid? Right now my list includes houses from the following housing developments.
Eagle Pointe
Lindfields
Cumbrian Lakes
Sunset Lakes

Does anyone have any opinions to offer? Are these safe communities? Any specific areas to avoid?

If you can swing it, try to stay onsite for your first DW trip. I personally think the perks are great (free transporation, EMH's, pricing of tickets, etc). Good luck with your trip!

Well, I wanted to update all of you who offered me help that I have made a decision! When I first starting looking I ran across a house named the Peterson Paradise Retreat. (Homeaway #219739) I thought it was nearly perfect except it only had a ping pong table and I wanted to see if I could find anything less expensive. As it turns out, when I asked my DS what sort of games he would like he only wanted ping pong! DD and DH were already hooked from the pool and view. They have been pouting ever since I told them I was still looking. So, since I found our airfare at nearly 1/2 price of when I started out I decided to go a head and splurge a little and stop trying to find a better deal. Everyone's happy and I can get onto planning the next stage! Yippee!

So, I guess sometimes what's in a name does make a difference.... .....you see, our last name is Peterson just like the house. We are hoping it was destiny!

Be careful about booking this property. The owner, Robert George insists on payment by personal check and will not refund deposits. He breached his contract with us by refusing to refund funds even after all terms and conditions had been met. Threatened us with a lawsuit for defamation of character should we post any negative reviews of his property.

Pass this one by if you want to have a pleasant vacation experience.
