Okay we are going to Disney From Nov 29th- Dec 7th We are buying 2 9 day adult tickets with hoppers....

We are going to Disney again Nov 12th (stay at the poly & night at the park (Disney Cruise 13-17th) then go back to Disney the 17th- 21st (leave the 21st).

Would it make more sense to upgrade to an AP using our GAD vouchers THIS year since it would be good for our trip next year?? We were going to use them for fast passes but i am thinking it makes more sense to upgrade.

OK so we now know APs make more sense for us BUT we booked a 40% off room only code and PAID for dining. Can we cancel the tickets and still keep the paid dining plan?

What is a GAD voucher? I don't know what you mean by using the GAD voucher as a fast pass. Do you really think you'd need a fast pass during those times in Nov? Check crowd calendar, but I don't think they're super busy times.

What is the cost of a 2 10 day hoppers compared with AP's? Probably pretty close. The AP will save you the cost of having to buy a 2nd pair of tickets for next year. The AP will be good for 1 year, so it won't expire til the 28th of Nov 2011. That could be a big savings....plus... the AP will give you access to all the AP discounts including discounts on meals, shopping and experiences.

BTW: Nov 29- Dec 7th is 9 days not 10. And then when you go back next year... that's another 6 days in the park. Figure out your cost for the AP then divide it by 15 days and look at what you're average daily cost is. Compare that will getting two separate tickets, a 9 day and a 6 day.

Ok... GAD voucher is Give A Day. Got it! Posted a related thread on your facebook page. Looks like you can at least use the GAD toward the purchase of your AP or multiday pass. They said its worth $79.

I'm back again with the math..... here ya go.

A 9 day park hopper for trip #1 is $311 each ($316 for a 10 day)
A 6 day park hopper for trip #2 is $296 each
that is a total of $607 not counting any price increase that will happen next August (it usually does)

An annual pass is $499 for a standard each(no water park fun and more) pass. Renewals are less and DVC prices are much less
If you use your $79 value of the GAD voucher toward the $499 price that makes it $420. Instead of spending $607... you save $187 per ticket over the cost of getting separate tickets for each trip. The value of unlimited fastpassing at a non-super busy time at one single park, is not even close to $187 in my opinion. You better value for sure is to upgrade to the Annual pass. THEN.... when you renew your annual pass, it will be even less. Currently, the renewal is a $40 savings over a freshly bought pass. DVC pass is currently $399 a $100 savings... $354 for renewals. I paid $354 for each of my adult passes for this year. So with my so far total of 16 park days since I renewed, (this counts Nov) I will be paying an average of $22.00 a day. Now, my AP expires in Nov of 2011 (15 months for the price of 12 promotion), so I have plenty of time to get in more days on my pass after Thanksgiving. See the value? I know you do.

GAD is the give a day get a day promotion Disney had. its a free one day park ticket i have heard of people upgrading them to AP's

and oops your right 9 days not 10!

Based on the calculations by the PP and having the GAD ticket which is worth ?$85 towards your upgrade, it definitely sounds like an AP would make sense for you now.

Ok new question....

You can change your room to an AP room discount and buy the dining without tickets. Your room just has to be avail. on the AP discount. That week is becoming less and less avail. You could just get a 1 day if the AP is not avail and keep it for future use. Or you might want to think about the TIW that you can buy with AP that's what we do. The AP alone will give some 10% off some TS for lunch, but TIW gives 20% off many TS as well as some CS (Values and some AK CS to name a few) Just another item in the mix once you have AP. If you do that, you don't have to worry about changing the room Res. now since many places are booked up for AP discount. Call and see

But i will not get our APs until the day we arrive so i dont think i can do it that way.

Yes, you can. I have done so many times, in fact we did so in Feb. We had 4 one day passes that we had to buy during FD. We went to MK before the hotel and upgraded the 1 day passes to AP and checked in with an AP discount. No problem. You just have to have the ap before checking in. Some will say you don't need the AP to check in but I just always get it before checking in if I don't already have it!

I know but we are using our GAD tickets to upgrade to the AP. so that is where is gets confusing. We already have a 40% off room and i dont want to touch the room really because i dont want to screw that up.

Do not buy the 9 day hoppers to start with.

Start by redeedming the GAD vouchers. Upgrade from there as needed whether to 9 day or to AP. You can upgrade more than once if you didn't make up your mind on the first try.

yes, don't buy both sets of tickets, just upgrade the GAD to whatever, unless you are buying DDP, then the tickets have to be purchased unless an AP discount is used. (1 day though)

Yeah i dont want to buy both sets but i was trying to keep the dining package that is where i got confused. Its not free dining we did pay. I do see what you mean though. i am going to cancel my dining and tickets and then upgrade our GAD! i get it now haha

thanks!!

Well to Buy the DDP you have to have an AP and can't use the GP discount, must be AP discount from what I read. We never bought DDP. But even if you keep your current res. (if you can't get AP discount for your room due to lack of avail.) you can just buy a 1 day pass per person. Use the GAD to upgrade for AP and KEEP the 1 day passes for the future. You also can just use TIW (20% off many TS and some CS) instead of buying DDP. I personnally would not buy the DDP the TIW for us is better since we really don't do desserts or want the drink that's included. You should think about TIW if you are getting an AP It just might work out better than buying the DDP Free DDP is a different story!

We desided to cancel the dining and just pay OOP. AP are a better fit for us anyways.

You should check out Tables in Wonderland and see if it is a good idea for you. If there are just 2 of you it depends on how many TS meals you plan to eat, but it is good on adult beverages as well. It is good at a few of the CS restaurants.

If you don't get Tables in Wonderland there are some places that give an Annual Pass discount.

I love NOT having the DDP, (too much food) and just eating where I want when I want and if I end up getting a discount GREAT!
Enjoy!
