Calling all the Alabama folks out there

So I may have to head from Disney to Montgomery on thanksgiving day. Are there any campgrounds anyone can recommend in Montgomery that will be open on Thanksgiving for Check in or possibly Friday after? Would be very helpful for Bert if it has WiFi, but we can figure something out.

@tiggerdad @bama_ed any suggestions? I know neither are from Montgomery but thought you could help. Plus any tips for driving from Disney to Montgomery. Still not sure if we have to do this but i may need to be in Montgomery for work at thanksgiving. If I want to keep my Disney trip, I may have to just camp while I work. It is possible I can support from Atlanta but want to be prepared.

Sorry Kris, I don't know anything about Montgomery area campgrounds.

Montgomery is only 90 minutes from home so for us it's a day trip only (I try to stop there as little as possible although the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is worth a trip).

I travel thru Montgomery to the Fort each way and divert there to Hwy 231 to Dothan then down to I10. You might save a minute making other choices but it's 4 lane divided with lights in towns and plenty of gas options (buy in Alabama around the Dothan ring highway - Florida has higher gas taxes).

Save me a Thanksgiving drumstick.

PS - my casual observations driving through is that there is very little in the way of RV campgrounds on I65 north or south. Given that The University of Auburn has football games a couple of times a year (or so I hear) anywhere between the Barn and Montgomery on I85 with RV accomodations might be better to look at.

Wind Creek is a state park outside of Montgomery, supposed to be the largest state park in the country. I haven't stayed there but my parents have and they love it, the park just when through a update and I believe they repaved sites and road and installed cable tv.
