Calling all Sept 2010 Poly DISers!! UPDATED VISITOR LIST PAGE 4, POST 50

Joining in - just switched us to the Poly for the second half of our Aug/Sept stay :cool1: We'll be there 8/31-9/4. We were originally booked at Bay Lake Tower, but I started looking at pics of the Poly and just couldn't help myself - it looks so beautiful!!!

We booked GV CL (since we were planning to have a kitchen at BLT, I figured we'll need the extra food, and now I won't have to cook it :rolleyes1)

I'm so excited- we've never stayed at a monorail resort before, and never stayed club level - I'm afraid we're going to get spoiled :goodvibes

Oops, need to go change my ticker.....

We also wanted to try out BLT because I've been wanting to check out the 1 BDR villas and I like the idea of being at a monorail resort. But I couldn't find any availability with the room discount being offered during the time we wanted. I am secretly happy because I LOVE the grounds at the Poly and have never liked the theme (is there one?) at the Contemporary. But I'm still willing to try BLT, don't get me wrong! :goodvibes

That's pretty much what happened to us. We could get a 1-br lake view at BLT, but my main reason for wanting to stay there was the MK view, and I couldn't get an MK view room!! I'm not a big fan of the CR theming - and they certainly don't have the lush, tropical grounds, so I'm thrilled about the switch. Someday I do want to book BLT theme park view, though, and watch Wishes from my balcony :wizard:

I couldn't get any availability in a 1 bedroom at BLT or BCV using our 40% PIN either. I was flexible too...the whole month of September!:confused3

Well, I just cancelled mine for 8/31-9/4, so if those dates work for you, you should be able to get it now!! It was lake view, not theme park view, so it just depends on what you want....

Too funny! But I'll be there 9/18 - 9/25. It's ok though because I really do love the Poly. At this point I hope nothing does open up for 1 BDR at BLT for 40% off because then it will raise the question if we should switch...and I don't want to :rolleyes1

Ha ha - I know just what you mean! I'm not even going to look to see if any theme park view rooms open at BLT now, because I'll wonder if I should switch back!!

I had a dream that Poly introduced 1 BDR villas :scared1:
I wish....

Our first trip GV Sept 11th-18th requested King bed and building closer to GCH thinking about asking for Fiji building.. Arriving night before staying at Best Western Downtown Disney..2nd Anniversary with lots of new ADRs such as Cali Grill, Narcossee, Afternoon Tea with Tonys, Ohana, Le Cellier all thrown in..maybe Kona Sushi

I read on another thread that the only king beds at the Poly are in the club level suits so I'd double check on that if I were you so you won't be disappointed if you don't get a king when you get there!

That's correct. Poly is 2 queens, no kings unless you book a suite.

And just an interesting note, but I travel a bit (mostly for business but sometimes for pleasure!) and the hotels that are being built are making the rooms with king beds SMALLER. And they put only showers in with the King beds because business MEN are the ones to stay in a king and families stay in a 2 queen/double room. So they don't take into account that a woman needs a place to put her foot (when she shaves). So I've switched over to 2 queens even when I travel by myself now!!! Bigger rooms and a spot to put my darn leg! Ok, rant over :goodvibes

So I am the OP, but I am now a Oct Poly DISer due to DH's job commitments. :headache:
Hope you Sept folks have a great time...and think of me while I am waiting an extra month!:sad2:

We'll be at POLY for the first time 9/18-9/25 (GV room). We've stayed at all the Values Resorts & the Beach Club in the past. Now that we have a little princess going for her first trip, I'm looking forward to the transportation options; I'm excited that we'll only have to ride a bus for 1/2 the parks. I'm trying to decide now if I should try to request a specific longhouse or leave it up to the Tiki gods.

Here's where we plan to eat: Whispering Canyon Cafe, Akershus, Cape May Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Coral Reef, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, and Tony's Town Square. We've eaten at most of them already, but 2 of them are new for us: Tony's for lunch & Chef Mickey's for dinner (already had breakfast there). I tried to limit the character meals since we don't know how DD will react.

This will be our first trip with DD; she'll be 13 months when we go. We're planning to have her first haircut at the MK barber-shop while we're there so I'm really looking forward to that, too. I'm excited and nervous about travelling with the baby, not sure how easy/hard it will be or how she'll behave. We're flying Southwest, so the good thing is we can check 4 bags for free, and with the way I pack I'm sure we'll need them! Now we just gotta wait 2 more months!

P.S. I'm looking for anyone who has room for 1 more on a fishing excursion during this time. DH really wants to go & I'd love for him to be able to go, too. It'd be my late Father's Day & Anniversary gift to him! :goodvibes Thanks!

We'll be at the Poly at the same time!!

Make sure to visit the Poly thread as well for information on the resort and longhouses. And check tikiman's website for great info on the longhouses and the rooms in each longhouse.

I would suggest making a room request (if you want) 4 to 10 days prior to your arrival. Not all rooms at the Poly have a balcony/patio so if that is important to you - request that! And of course, there are many beloved longhouses but it all depends on your preferences. If you really don't have a preference, then don't request it!

I can't help you on the fishing excursion question but I have read good reviews of it on allears and was tempted to plan one for our group as well - it sounds fun for those of us that fish!

Just found everyone hiding in this thread. ;)

I'm so excited about our upcoming trip, I've been having trouble getting to sleep at night! :surfweb:

We'll be staying at Poly for the first time from Sept. 19th - 23rd. First time at Poly and first time doing anything Disney for my hubby and our 3 year old. princess:

I've already started with the "naughty girls aren't allowed at Disney, so you'd best be extra special good' :scared1:

Looking forward to checking in already. :goodvibes

Yay! Fun thread!

We'll be there September 18 - 24. This will be our third CL Poly September trip in 3 years and as a previous poster already mentioned, the crowds are amazingly light (not nonexistent, of course!) - so much easier to enjoy all the fun!

Here's where we're scheduled to eat:

Narcoossee's
California Grill
Artist Point
Flying Fish
Yachtsman's
Kona (we're trying for Ohana, maybe the CL CM's can help us out...either way we love Kona at any time of day!)
Coral Reef (lunch)
Ohana (breakfast)

And clearly I'll be getting my Tonga Toast immediately upon check-in!

CAN'T WAIT!!! Seems like lots of y'all will be there at the same time! :cool1:

So we should all be paying our trip off (45 day mark and all) soon...if not already. How exciting is that??? OK, maybe not the 'bye bye money' part, but the 45 day mark???

Summer has been flying by with so much travel and things to do for the kids that time is cruising. Hopefully when we are at the Poly, it will be slow going

And for those that will be there during the same time, I'd love to say hello! We'll be at the pool everyday (I know I've told y'all this before on the Poly thread but it seems more appropriate here). Me and DH hunt for a table because we like to sit, talk, eat, drink, etc. while the kids swim. If you see us, please feel free to sit with us! We'll be there 9/18 - 9/25. I can't wait!!!

I book the Poly GV back in January, as soon as I got my PIN, for Sept 25 thru Oct 1. It's getting close now! :cool1::woohoo:
