Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend)- thread #2

I had power all night but a lady on the bus said hers was off when she got up.

Made my goal and got some pixs. Here's my grumble, if you get corral a and plan to walk, please don't get in the front. The beginning was horrible

Does any know if they have water or drink and food after the 5k?

The program discourages taking the drop off bag so I am thinking I can do without if I can get a little recovery food at the end of race. I want to stay and cheer after I finish.

What was the food situation at the 5k finish?

Water, powerade, banana and food box. I thought it was pretty good.

Here's my grumble, if you get corral a and plan to walk, please don't get in the front. The beginning was horrible

DD14 was in corral B & was still surprised to see any walkers at that level. I was in corral E where most of the walkers hang out & still had people yelling "walkers to the right" as they tried to pass. I think that's a great idea, but they didn't announce it for all runners so as to organize the race in anyway. I & many others used a walk/run strategy & it sure would have been nice to have a left hand running lane for when you needed to break out. Found myself in the grass a few times. Couple of bottlenecks on the route, but the worst was in the first mile when we came to a stop and waited in line to go, I shut off my timing watch until I had passed it.

Just left the expo! So cool! lots of sizes sold out of some things (really wanted a jacket, but only smalls left) and all the Dooney products gone (of course), but lots of cool things to look at and try out! Can't wait til Sunday! Good luck to all my fellow princesses!

Not totally sure about the discount...they're coming up under that section but it doesn't look like its letting you apply it? Just wanted to update so as not to get anyone's hopes up.

I'm in Corral D. I didn't know they only had 5 corrals for the 10k. That's a bummer. It is going to be so crowded.

The expo was good, but did not buy a lot. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Ditto on the walking. I was in the last corral and I'm pretty slow. And I was still constantly going up over curbs to get around people. I actually heard someone make a comment about why people couldn't just wait to pass. Well, it's a pretty short race; if I wait to pass, it will be over!

I'm not sure if I will make it to the meet tomorrow. I hope to see some of you at the races! I will be in bright orange tomorrow and I have pink streaks in my hair.

We won't make the meet and greet at DTD tomorrow, but we're waiting to get into Pasta in the Park right now. Maybe we'll see you here!

Went to the expo today... SUPER CROWDED in some spots (NB and the perimeter of the booths were the worst IMO). Got bib no problem, walked right up, t shirt line was 1 person in front of me. The first official rd area was the hp field house, basically nothing left but coffee mugs, baby onesies and one t shirt design. The jostens area did have more, but man they were still out of lots none of the PHM track jackets left at all.. Zipper hoodies only size small. Tons and tons of GSC gear and apparel left. Coast to coast shirt pink only XL left.. I had wanted a zip track jacket so bad.. And even would've settled for the hoodie had there been one in my size still 3 racks of GSC jackets though. I ended up getting a coffee mug, magnet, I did it shirt. I also picked up 3 more sparkly soul headbands. Hoping Disneyland half will have some c2c things when we go in August.. Maybe some variety since all I've seen is the one design in either pink/blue.

Despite the expo disappointment, I CANNOT WAIT for Sunday!! Good luck to all the 10k and GSC runners/walkers tomorrow!

I'm doing the 10k tomorrow! (Currently too excited to sleep!) Doing it as part of the GSC but my sister and I will be writing a tr of the whole weekend, I'll post a link in here when we get started on it

I'm here!! We didn't do any parks yesterday. We left at midnight to drive down (Thursday/Friday) and went straight to the expo. Arrived about 9:30am. Went to a few resorts on the monorail and passed out last night at 9. Going to expo again to try and look at the booths. Yesterday got so crowded and my anxiety level rose way high. Had to get out of there!! Where are you staying?

My friend has decided she won't run tomorrow, but we're trying to figure out logistics for the morning. A few questions...

1. If she wants to come with me but not run, what happens for her after Race Retreat (which we've both paid for)? Can she hang out there for a while? Is there a way for her to easily get into the parks from there?

2. If she can't go in the early am (or realizes that 3:00 is WAY too early to be up if she's not racing ), is there a way for her to easily meet up with me after the race? The family reunion area? She can't be right there at the finish, can she?

We'd appreciate ANY help. Thank you!!

(And congrats to those who did the 10k today! We've seen lots of medals coming into ASMo this morning. Woohooooo!!!)

Two down and one to go. The humidity is tough for me. Too many hour on the treadmill in climate controlled environment. To morrow I WILL take my handheld water bottle as a mile between water stos wil be too far for me. I may even take my iPod and I have never done that.

The 10k was good. Nice course and I never felt crowded and Jeff Gallaway even talked about walkers moving to side to open up center for runners. The mile signs were cute, but I never saw mile marker 4

I didn't sleep well Friday night,I think the whole power thing messed with me. But After yesterday's 5k, I rested and sleep some until 1pm and then laid at the pool for 3 hours and was asleep by 8:45 last night and slept until first alarm at 3:27am. I had three alarms set.

Check your program guide. Page 9...buses run 3-5 and 7-10:30
She can see you at finish. I have gone to finish both days after running. Some parts are for cheer squad people who pay.
