Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend)- thread #2

Just to clear up since my earlier post (since I wasn't very precise), the meteorologists in Florida do a great job of making sense of the chaos that is Florida weather. The forecasts change all the time, but that isn't the fault of the meteorologists, it's the fault of the weather.

I didn't mean any offense!!!

Absolutely none taken! :) it is indeed chaotic and definitely hard to forecast for, but also kind of fun to see how weird the weather can be in Fl ::yes::

I've lived in SE Florida for 23 years and one thing I learned; the weather is constantly changing. No worries everyone, we will have fun!

Good morning Princesses and Princes….

We are almost there, well some of you are already at WDW, and other will be nervous about flights etc. We have trained, nursed injuries, worried about the weather and numerous other issues, but now is the time to put that in the past and look forward to a warm Princess weekend. It is time to enjoy the accomplishment we have made the past months or maybe even years. Take a deep breath and actually stop at times and take it all in and enjoy the moment, shed a tear or give a fist pump and be thankful for what you have done and not regret a missed run or finishing slowing than you had planned. Look for the positive, encourage another and be that perfect caring princess.

Hope to see you this weekend!

:rotfl: ^ Exactly, and ditto for the Tampa Bay coast!

I know from past experience the odds of me managing any DIS time are slim, but I'll try hard to post updates on Twitter! I'm https://twitter.com/VsFuzzyWorld and I should get to WDW around noon tomorrow. :yay:

We are heading to the airport at 2!

Hopefully everyone who had weather delays yesterday are gone before we get there.
I will post when we land.

Love this - thank you. :)

I'm finishing up a bunch of work today and won't get to even start packing until tonight, but did write out my packing list already - so excited! I'll admit that I'm a little concerned with the talk I'm hearing about fog tomorrow morning, and what that might mean for my drive to Chicago to catch my flight. But I'm thinking good thoughts, and cannot wait for the WARM!!!!!!! :)

I am getting so excited! I leave tomorrow evening for a long 16 hour drive! Good luck to everyone! Pray for great weather!!!!!!

:yay::yay::yay:
I'm SO excited! Finished my final training run for GSC. Everything feels ok. Not perfect, but I'm hoping 2 more days of "rest" and a massage and adrenaline will help that. Finished my packing list, which made me feel so much more prepared and able to handle the actual packing which I'm hoping to finish this afternoon. :laundy: is finally finished, so everything should be ready to go in suitcases tonight. Dinner tonight with my BFF - hoping she has some good PG news to share....

Of course, today, I'm having a work crisis. Not the time! Don't they know I have an important weekend coming up and I need to conserve my energy and anxiety for that? :lmao:

And then one of my school mom friends asked me to help her with a project for a fundraiser we have the day after we return. Of course I said yes, but it's going to be a tight squeeze!

Anyone at the expo please send pics of some merchandise or other fun info. I'm sure it will just make me sad for missing out on actually buying it, but I'm so excited I'd even be happy to see pics of the water stops and port o potties!

Best wishes to all running and traveling! May you have a magical weekend! :)

Hard to believe in 24 hours I will be at the expo picking up all my gear! :cool1: Good luck to all my fellow princesses. I will be running in Corral B as Alice in Wonderland for the 10K and starting back in Corral N (with my mom) dressed as Belle in the 1/2. Can't wait for that GSC medal!

Some inspiration/push for those of you competing this weekend. We had planned on participating and I have been sick for a few months with horrible sinus and stomach issues. We had to decide not to go so I could focus on getting better. I'm so sad to know we should be leaving for WDW tonight, but so excited for all of you. So......if at any moment during your race you feel like you can't do it. Think about how much I wish I could be there and do it for me, haha!! Good luck to everyone!! I'll be pulling for you!

I'll see you in Corral N! I'm dressed as Princess Anna. I'm super proud of my costume but I can't figure out how to post a photo :/

I'm feeling the same way about the rest and adrenaline helping me to run my best on Sunday. I'm nursing a tender TFL after my 10 miler on Monday - feeling better today but using ice and Flector Patch and just trying to take it easy.

But it's been a bigger mental game than anything else - I TOTALLY empathize with you on the work front. My company decided to hold their annual Spring meeting not in May, as usual, but in February this year. Of course, this was LONG after I'd registered and had been training for PHM, and there was no way I was going to miss this race. My company was great to let our region schedule the meeting around my race (yay!), but it means that I've got to have everything locked up and ready to go by close of business today. That means planning every minute of a three day meeting for eight reps, including all of the slide decks and workshop material. I'll essentially get home next Monday afternoon, spend the evening with my family, send the kids off on the bus on Tuesday morning, then drive to Indy for the meeting. It's been very stressful, but I'm happy to say that as of 10 minutes ago, I am DONE with the prep and ready to go!!!! :woohoo:

Of course, all of this means that I haven't even started to pack, so that will be how I'll be spending my evening. ;)

Leaving at 0 dark-thirty in the morning (aka 5 am) for the airport. Can hardly believe it's really HERE! I haven't thought all week about whether I'll make it through the Half -- all I can do is do my best! I'm packing FIVE pairs of shoes, to cover any and all contingencies, two running skirts and three running shorts. Yes, for three races. And three shirts. The shirts are the only thing I'm really sure about lol.

This is absolutely surreal!

Where is everyone finding corral placements for the 10K? I keep seeing people mention it, but I can't find anything to look up what my corral is.

You are not alone my friend! I am packing 3 pairs of shoes, four pairs of shorts, a skirt, and a multitude of tops. For TWO races. I am pretty sure I know which I'm wearing but I'd rather have the extras there just in case something freakish happens- like someone spills orange juice on me the morning of the race in the hotel room. (Yes, I over prepare!)

I'm getting to the point of packing where I start to overpack bc I stop thinking, there's no more time for that!

So jealous of everyone leaving today and tomorrow. I have to wait til Friday!!!

Did anyone else see some of the official race merch pictures? Anyone happen to know if that stuff can only be purchased at the expo?

I am beyond excited.... Way overpacked, and still can't find the comfortable bottom for the outfit! Nothing like last minute!!!!
Quick question about tossed off sweatshirts- are they really donated to local causes? Just bought two fleece at old navy just for this purpose , knowing that they would be donated..... Then I thought maybe I made that up!!! Anyone know?

Can't wait to see all you inspirations ! Last year on a bus to WDW, some very excited runners influenced my daughter and I to take this journey on! Thank you ladies!
