So those of you who wear tiaras for a costume, where do you get them and how do you attach them?
I just saw a post about "Perfect" princesses. When I did the PHM 4 years ago, my friend and I bought tiny tiaras to wear - it was the only costume-y thing we wore. My DD is doing the race with me this time and I got her a tiara to wear. Are we not allowed to wear them because we are not "Perfect" princesses?
Exactly! I've worn tiaras for the PHM races, as will lots and lots of others; totally okay! The Perfect Princesses are given tiaras and sashes by rD, but anyone can buy and wear their own.You can wear whatever you would like.. I think what they were referring to was, "perfect pricesses" will receive a tiara/sash for doing so.
Do you have access to a treadmill? I definitely recommend trying to get a couple longer walks in before the race.On another note, I'm a walker and haven't had a chance to do more than 6 miles this winter (here in MD - more than 6 inches of snow today!), and I've only done that 3 times since July. I am totally worried about finishing, especially if the weather is warm and humid. DD will be running way ahead of me!![]()
I have a couple... one was pre-Internet shopping that I got from a craft store - it attaches with built-in combs at either end. I bought another last year that has little loops at each end through which you can attache bobby pins, but I sewed the loops onto my hat with a few stitches, since I wanted a brimmed hat. After the race, I snipped the stitches and wore the tiara on its own. I found that one (and tons of other options) on Amazon. So those of you who wear tiaras for a costume, where do you get them and how do you attach them?
I had hip brusitis when I ran the W&D and used KT tape. It really helped me get through the race and I was in a lot of pain. The KT people at the expo would not tape that area since you basically have to have your shorts off, but there are good instructional videos on the KT website. For that area it did help to have someone else around to assist as the pieces of tape are large and you have to stretch the muscles and the tape. However, you could do it solo, in fact, the video shows the person taping the area alone.
Good luck with the race...I am still in recovery mode and haven't been able to get my miles up since November. Just hoping I have enough foundation to finish both races.

Mine came too!
Mine came today too!!! Sooo beyond excited!!!!Yeah! My Magic band is here!
No panicking! I also have been plauged with injuries. Recovered from clavacle fracture in October (no surgery) Sprained Right ankle November (R.I.C.E) Sprained Right ankle 2 days ago! (R.I.C.E so far ok) Thank god injuries were not so severe however, taking it easy on the ankle and wrapping it up for my next walk/jog. More like walk 15mm. Just did the minnie 10K and another 10K Monday (result of ankle sprain).Hoping to get in at least a 9 mile in before the 23rd of Feb. Then I'll be ok. Going solo to the PHM so if anyone needs a walk jog buddy let me know I'll be with the 15mm pace corral. This is my 4th Half and 1st PHM.
Since I posted right before the thread closed:
Yesterday was my longest training run to date...14.55 miles! It felt pretty good, but toward the end and afterward, my legs were sore. I put on compression pants after my shower, wore them all day, then slept in them. I am still sore this morning. Does anyone have any advice?
First, congrats on that awesome long run! I would soak in cold water afterward, rest and eat a good amount of protein to help rebuild.Since I posted right before the thread closed: Yesterday was my longest training run to date...14.55 miles! "Sore" is not necessarily bad, given your mileage. What type of sore? Quads? Hamstrings? Something else? Foam roller, if you have one. Make sure you're stretching after you run, and maybe a little dynamic stretching before you run.

How do you get to the 15 mm pace corral? I'm also going to be by myself and that pretty much where I want to be too. Is there a sign?
I just did 10.3 on Monday, hoping to get up to 12 before the race. I'm doing all three races, so I'll use the 5k to get familiar with the procedures and to get any pictures, since it's not timed. The 10k I hope to stay right around the 15 mm mark so I can get through the half. I've done some 5k but this is my first half!
Is there any way to find out which Princess we chose? I completely forgot who I'd picked! -_-
