Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend)- thread #2

hmm the issues with the tracking site are concerning me now because I didn't have any issues? I just used the direct link that has been floating around the blogs and signed in with a facebook account. I found my name and signed for the mobile alerts. It said I was good to go and that a confirmation has been emailed to me, which I will have to check when I get home from work. I did not get a confirmation text though, or a facebook post which I would have liked to make sure. Now I'm worried that something is up with it because it worked so well for me... :scratchin

Instead of be productive at work, I am putting that meteorology degree to good use by completely stalking the computer models for next weekend :surfweb:

It's still a very long way out weather-wise, but most models and forecasts look like high temps in the upper 70s/low 80s for most of next week and then highs around 81 on Saturday and Sunday. Lows generally look like they are going to be mid-60s right now and there may be some scattered t-storms in the afternoons but clearing skies overnight (which is pretty much Florida's weather pattern for spring/summer every day).

IF the skies stay clear, it will likely NOT be as humid as last year. But that's a big IF this far out. I know a lot of people last year at the half were saying that they were happy that there was thick cloud cover to keep it "cooler" because it was very nasty out, but that is actually not true. Thick clouds trap radiation (heat) and water vapor near the surface, creating a blanket effect and in fact making it even warmer! So we want it to be clear and sunny on Sunday morning :cool2:

anywho, back to work now but hopefully the weather (finally) cooperates this year and gives us a beautiful Princess weekend!

Runner tracking is up, but it's a new way of signing up to get updates. I made a new account. But it's still not letting me get updates. It's chronotrack now. I have an account. Yet it's telling me I'm unauthorized. What a mess!!

I know this question has been asked a gazillion times, but where is the tracking feature. I remember signing up last time at the kiosk at the Expo. Would be great to have it already done.

::yes:: Exactly! I loved it - but I'm used to high humidity.

It's through the Princess section of rundisney.com, under Spectators. Here's the link: http://trackshack.com/disneysports/runnertracking/princess/

Runner tracking seemed to work fine for me - I signed up for FB and texts and received an email each for the 10K and half, confirming I'd signed up for tracking. :thumbsup2

I want the sun says this northern chicky. What do your models look like for Monday. It changes so much. We are planning on going to Jetty? Park on Monday.

I registered the same way. Didn't get a text or a posting on FB.

Yep Jetty Park! That's pretty close to where my parents live. I'm assuming you mean Monday, Feb 24 after Princess (although this coming Monday looks like it's going to be absolutely beautiful in the mid-70s!) A few long range forecasts for Feb 24 are trying to bring in a tiny "cool front" dropping high temps to about 70 that day, but the overall pattern as of right now looks to me like it's going to stay pretty constant with highs mid-70s and maybe a slight chance of rain in the afternoon :) we'll have to see next week as it gets closer!

She's Alive!!!! Hey Gmom, we sure will miss you down here in the sweatbox!! Have a great time in Hawaii!

Cindy:hippie:

Miss seeing you to and Nicki (assume she is coming down ?) PM and let me know how you guys do!

Hope you and the rest of the folks on the thread don't have a repeat of the humidity we had last year !

Yup, it's a reunion for all of us since DL. I'll be in touch. Doing the 5K and GSC. Cheers and aloha!!!

My flight has been cancelled:sad1: We were supposed to leave today! Now I can't get out of New England until Wednesday at the earliest. Southwest's system seems to have crashed :badpc: and I can't do a rebooking online. So I have been on hold for over an hour with at least an other hour predicted.

I am so frustrated. I was planning a couple easy runs at my parents before we headed to disney to acclimate to the weather. Now I won't run at all before the race likely. There is too much ice on the ground here.

To top it off another storm is forecast for Tuesday. I am starting to panic.

ugh this winter has been the worst! So frustrating! Which airport are you flying out of? We fly SW all the time out of PVD, it looks like there are seats available from PVD on Tuesday at 4:50 PM? We are flying down on Friday, I have been trying to keep an eye on the weather but it hard to say with still almost a week to go. Tuesdays weather is not supposed to be big so hopefully you can get out then.

Im in Maryland and this storm is nothing compared to the other day so it should not hold you up anymore - but to see it snowing again is a bummer - more quality time with the TM. LookinG forward to Warm and sunny by the end of the week!

Don't panic- you will get there! Missing a few runs at this point won't make or break your training.

We use PVD for SW too. Unfortunately I couldn't get through to a person for over 2 hours. The online rebooking system had crashed, so I had to wait for a person. I kept checking flights and was watching them sell out one after another. So frustrating. I finally got a person and changed to Wednesday at 3:20. Better than nothing, but not as long as I'd like to get used to the heat down there. I'm so used to the cold I don't know what to expect in the heat. I was injured August- October, so I haven't run outside above 40 degrees in a long time. My allergies and asthma are much worse in the heat. Oh well, it is what it is. These darn storms Tuesday and Wednesday had better not mess me (or anyone else) up again!

Good luck to everyone with their travels!

Does anyone know if Alice is on the 10k course? Our group is all going as different characters from the Mad Hatter Tea Party and would love a picture with Alice :cool1:

When I looked on Wunderground, it said FOG for Sunday morning!!!!! Which is 100% humidity. Which makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.

Ditto.

If that ends up being the case, I think im done with Florida races. Tinkerbell in January was perfect. Too bad they moved it. The humidity just about kills me in these races. There was a huge difference for me between 2012 and 2013 w&d because of the humidity.

I'm not going to freak out yet though because its still a week away....
