I'm having a big moment of self doubt. I really want to do these races but my worry is mostly about the early morning times and weather concerns. I am an "after work" evening runner and only usually run in the mornings on the weekend and even then it's usually 9 am at the earliest. How on earth am I going to get up and on a bus at 3am?!
Then there is the fact that I haven't run In three weeks due to injuries and illness. Before that I had a long stretch of two years of good training that I enjoyed a lot. But have I totally lost my groove? I haven't had 3 full weeks off running in two years.
Plus my mother and mother in law both think I shouldnt do the races. I know they are old fashioned but it's hard to feel like you are "doing something wrong" in the eyes of women you respect. My DH and BFF are supportive tho.
Anyone else nervous about the races? (I know we're all nervous about registration!)
I run in the afternoons around lunch time.. The 3 am wake up call stinks but it is not tough. You don't actually start running until after 5 am and by that time you have been up for a while so it is not a problem, you can do it. Personally I think people make a huge deal of the wake up time when it is not, and believe me I am not a morning person.
As for you mom and MIL I don't know what to say. My mother thinks I am nuts, but she still flies down to FL to watch. Listen to yourself if you want to do it, go for it....
