The closer the resort is to the parks the higher the category. All resorts on property will be able to provide race day transportation to the start. Near the Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin will often have amazing rates (Florida Resident, Teacher, Nurse, AAA, etc.) which you may qualify for. The rates are often less than a value Disney property. But... not sure there will be providing race day transportation. You would have to walk over to Boardwalk or BC/YC.

I know that. I was just wondering what the most convenient and affordable option was, or if there was such a thing.

:woohoo: New shoes! :woohoo: I love new running shoes (or any shoe for that matter) so much! I finally made it out to the running store yesterday and I tried on the latest Cumulus edition...the 15's. SO happy Asics listens to their customers. If you were on the Princess board last year, you may remember my rants at how awful the changes were to the 14's, and evidently I wasn't the only one that thought so! The 15's feel like their old selves again, thank goodness, because I wasn't finding any other shoes I really liked alot in the last year and my poor PF-riddled feet were taking a beating because of it. The sales guy that was helping me said they had SO MANY returns on them last year too, and that so far the 15's seemed to be selling well and not being returned. I mentioned I tried to get into the Nimbus but that I didn't care for those either...evidently the new version of that shoe went through some drastic chages too, so if you were a Nimbus fan and fell out of love with them, you might want to give them one more shot with their latest edition. I'm ecstatic to start dirtying up my new Cumulus today though. The bad part is that I didn't even go for shoes...I was out sports bra hunting mainly...and as is normally the case I came home with ONE sports bra and 4 bags full of other stuff. I REALLY needed some motivation to get out there though. I've been trying to avoid the running gear shopping spree, but it's proven before to be the sure-fire way to get me going again. Sad but true. :confused3 I'm supposed to be saving for GSC and Tink registration...must have had temporary shopping-induced amnesia. :rolleyes2

Why did I tell my friend that I would run another 1/2 in just 3 weeks. lol off for another run before the rain comes. Ok so I just needed to post something so I can see my tracker. Who else does this? Just a week and a half before early registration for those of you that are lucky enough to be able to do that.

Not crazy at all to me. Of the four 1/2 M I've run they were 3 to 4 weeks apart. I also have one scheduled in October & November then a full in January and the GSC in February

::yes:: Yep, I remember! Sooo glad they fixed them and you've once again got happy shoes! :yay:

:rotfl2: Um, I went to Sears to return something I ordered from Lands' End... and walked out with new running shorts. They were on sale for $14.99 and the guy gave me an additional 10% off of that - I have no idea why, but that made them a necessity, no?!

Just a week and a half before early registration for those of you that are lucky enough to be able to do that.

Can I asked those more experienced than I in the ways of RunDisney, is it normal that there is not finalized info on their website yet? I know I got a newsletter for my AP that says the early registration is 6/6. But there is nothing yet on my DVC page about early reg. I can see the links for WDW and the W&D but no princess, and its just over a week away. :confused3

Also, the event page on the RunDisney website has no info on the GSC or 10k, including official pricing. I can find some basic info on their blog, but that is it. I can't take all this waiting. I am use to other race organizers getting all the info out well in advance, and then waiting to register, but at least knowing the details of what I am waiting to register for. But I guess, as with all things Disney, they can do whatever they want because we'll all be sitting at our computers waiting to register regardless. :rolleyes2

Unfortunately, yes...it's pretty disappointing if you ask me, especially with PHM and the new GSC! I mean, with the huge chunk of change it's going to be and the buzz surrounding the new race and challenge, you'd think they would have updated the site when it was announced so everyone could be informed, plan, and figure out which arm they'd like to sell to pay for it ;)

When it is finally updated, don't bank on the parts that tell you things will be provided "approximately one month before race day" either :rolleyes2

Yep, par for the course with runDisney and ITA with Cripey - hugely disappointing. How is one supposed to make an informed decision when early registration does open without having had time to review the bazillion options offered?! :worried:

:lmao: Truth.

I always thought that was what these boards were for. I always get my best information right here. :)

It's not much- but there's some movement from RunDisney! Yay!

It's only interesting if you are deferring from last year to GSC though.

I think this is a first- I've never seen the website sooooo late in updating. Can't even get RD to give us a price on the dang GSC. It's nuts!

Its absolutely driving me bonkers!! I just want to know the price and if I can register early with the Disney Visa, is that so much to ask?? :lmao:

NO!

I called on Friday and had the circular conversation. Will there be Visa early registration? If there is- it will be on the website. Will there be DVC registration? If there is, it will be on the website. @@

Called Chase and asked them- guy checked the RD website and Visa website and said he didn't see anything listed. LMAO. Thanks dude.

Hey everyone! i am going to be running the Princess half marathon for the first time in 2014. I am really excited. Started running last july. I am planning to run a 5k in August and a 10k in September. These will be my first official races. I am doing the jeff galloway run/walk method, right now my pace is anywhere from 11:00-13:00 mpm. I am nervous cause i have never done anything like these races and i am doing them alone. So please any advice or motivation would be very helpful.

Hopefully i will meet a lot of you at Princess half marathon. We should try and get some people to meet up sometime that weekend.

Welcome, it sounds like you've got a good running base and a great plan with galloway and the planned 5k and 10ks. I learned so much reading these boards last year, I hope you do too!

I am checking the Disney Visa website multiple times a day!!! :rotfl:

At least I know after reading all these posts I'm not alone in my mania. I've checked the DVC at least a dozen times in the last couple of days. Even knowing it was a holiday weekend didn't slow me down!

Thanks for the info about the Asics!! I'm in the midst of trying to find a new shoe to replace the 5 pairs of Cumulus 13's that I hoarded and used over the last two years. I didn't even want to look at the 15's, but now I will.

YAY! Glad I could help a fellow Cumulus lover out  I took them on a short run last night and they passed the test...all the things I hated about the 14's feel normal again...the heel is once again ultra-cushy, the shoe as a whole is cushy-er again but still retains a good amount of arch support, and they widened out the toe box from the slimmed down 14. It feels like the heel-toe drop is more pronounced like it used to be...I hated how they decreased that in the 14's to be more flat...I guess trying to appeal to the growing popularity of the barefoot/natural/zero drop shoe wearers? Who knows? I do know that the 15's are back to feeling like they were custom made for my foot and I couldn't be happier about it...definitely asking for another pair in the other color for my b-day this summer!

One tip that I got from the sales guy...if you go try them on, when you get one on, flex your foot back and tap your heel on the ground a few times to get your heel all the way back before you tie up and stand up. Apparently this pair has an abundance of memory foam in the heel, so if you don't tap it all the way back to get it formed around your heel, when you stand up the shoe might feel a little short making you think you may need a bigger size. Tapping the heel back a few times really made a difference.

I just bought a pair of Asics Nimbus 14s. I like them so far, but I haven't run in them yet. The pair that I run in now are Asics GT-1000. I am planning on saving the Nimbus 14s for the race (I will start training in them before the race so they aren't brand new). They are a really nice purple color and I am thinking of making an Esmerelda costume to run in.
I think I will try them out soon to make sure that I like them for running.

Hey all. I am in a frenzy trying to find a neon/lime green running shirt! Everything I have found is tooo see-through. :( I have gone everywhere and spent toooo many hours online looking. Can someone help me? :confused3 Cripey, I see you had one in that pic from Tink, I think. Thanks

Cindy
